Does anyone know if the 162 has the soundakter thingy fitted.
You do not have a soundaktor in your car.

Did you want one? I pulled mine out from my Scirocco as on long drives it just adds to the road noise plus drowns out the sound of the actual engine.
I’m pretty sure it’s just the Golf GTI, Golf R and Scirocco that had these fitted.
All the R-lines (Golf, Passat, Tiguan, etc) are just body kit/trims and not full “performance” models so they didn’t get the valved exhaust or any other noise enhancements.

No, I was going to disable it if it was fitted, bloody useless thing even in our GTI and if I had my way it would be gone out of that long ago.
Just causes rattles in my GTI. One day I’ll yank it out
This is what the Soundaktor looks like. It sits under the rain tray which you'll have to remove to access it. There's a 10mm nut that holds it on and a plug to disconnect:

The first thing I did when I got my S3 was disable this, but I'm finding the Tig SO quiet I kind wish it had one!
aidean: You can always remove the plenum cover and physically remove the Soundaktor (as above), but a another way to turn-off the sound is using a diagnostic cable (like VCDS/OBD11) - less stress on the body parts (yours and the car's- tiny fingers are needed) and less chance of errors on the CAN bus (DTCs)
