    Slop in drivers seat

My seat(electric) has a bit of up and down slop in it, as well as a bit of back and forward(like a rocking chair)

The dealer claims that all cars have it, but every car I’ve ever driven hasn’t been this annoying. This is also a new car.

The passenger seat doesn’t do it(same level of electric adjustments)

The loan cars they give me don’t do it...

What do you all find on your seats?

Height makes no difference to me. At first I was told, that as I have it high in its range, the mechanism just does that.

Fully up/down/in the middle somewhere all the same though. Feels worse at the front of the seat. A bit like loose mounting bolts- but it’s not.

I’m fairly sure I’ve got a bit to much free play in the cantilever system, that allows up and down movement. Or too much tolerance in the worm gear/motor that facilitates the up and down adjustment.

I would take the service advisor out into the new car yard and find a new Tiguan and compare them. You will either be right or he will be so I would check first before I did it to make sure I was on solid ground. If there is still disagreement get the service manager involved.

I had this issue in my previous VW.

The rails need to be replaced. I had mine done under warranty.

Also be wary after accidents. I was run up the back of and it created the rock. I made a point of it on the insurance claim and told my repairer(choose of a repairer is great) and had the rails changed again fixing the problem.

It is warranty. They just do t want to do it due to $600 + part. I think they have to get the whole base.

Just don't accept VW bul... dealer talk! Is not normal is Faulty motor gears sprockets under seats rails . Germans in Tiguan saving so much money on VW cheap china motors on Tiguans . Before all VW built car El. Seats used same as Audi motors made in Germany or some EU country's like CZ , Poland , Spain , Romania etc.. . This Tiguan has lots of rip off low quality materials ,especially all trims inside is almost China made some even India! included dashboard trims plastic decoration plastics etc... That's why so many ppl complain about rattle inside cabin

Also before you starting warranty complain, Go underneath seats wth flash light move it all way back there is 4x screw , using special key spline bits ( sometime in emergency you can use torx or Allan key will fit in but would not recommended ) as if is lose any of this 4x screw it can make problems same as you descried. but most likely Faulty cheap China motors . there Is 4x motors I think

So as resolution, they swapped my seat as ‘good will’ but claimed all the cars have the same slop and rocking...

Even though the loan allspace I had today didn’t and neither does any other car in the vw range.

The new seat has fixed it. How’s that for a coincidence.

    Glad it’s resolved.

I’m still annoyed that my car is the least powerful car I’ve driven. (140tdi)

Good to see the seat issue if fixed.
The 140TDi has some good torque though....

It might just be my engine. But the 132 allspace I had as a loaner, ‘felt’ faster and accelerated faster, both while using less revs!!!

Used a bit more fuel, but not much 10.5 vs 9.0l/100)
