Hi Dubber, yes it's adjustable. In the menu screen the icon is on the rear view mirror for some reason, but clicking on it shows "Roof" and the slider adjusts the light intensity.
ozrod,
can you see if there is an option in your menu to adjust the brightness of the sunroof lights, on top of the adjustments for footwell and another for door leds, please.

I was in the service few days ago and they told me to book my car in for the light repair. They said they will lower the roof lining and apply a fix so I can have my light back. They also said it will take few days so it seems it is not a simple job.
Funny thing is, I didn't know I had a light there.. I thought the ambient light in the roof comes only in the Highline version and above.
Anyway, I will be booking my car in soon so I can have that fancy ambient roof light, I've been not missing.![]()

iDiesel,
I dropped my car off at 9am and picked it up at 3pm on the same day, and they did a repair and the recall.
Mine has several scratched and grease-stained pillar covers nowis going back tomorrow. Not impressed with my dealer so far.
Hi,
Does anyone know if the sunroof lights are still installed in MY19 models? and if so whether the fix could be applied and they could be turned back on via OBDeleven?
It’s not a major issue, but I was expecting/looking forward to this feature. There are some offsetting “upgrades” that I wasn’t expecting, but would be stoked if it’s a relatively quick and cheap (or free) exercise to activate this feature.
Not sure if this would be covered by warranty, given it was de-activated on purchase and the recall was already active? It’s specifically mentioned in the MY18.5 brochure (which is what I did my reasearch on) but seems to have disappeared from the MY19 brochure, probably because of the recall.
PS. I’m 99% certain I don’t have the option to activate through settings and it’s definitely not an option on the lighting screen.
Cheers
I thought if you open the sunroof and pop your head out and look closer, you should be able to see the lights.
If you have it (and I am pretty sure you do) just book a quick service with any VW dealership and they will fix it for free.
VW will not let you to simple hack and activate it by yourself. It was causing fire in the first place, VW had to make sure a simple OBDeleven or VCDS hack will not turn this feature on.
I believe they use a special firmware in the media units, which completely deactivates this light feature like it does not exist.
When they fix the problem, they install fuses I believe and then they re-flash the unit with the normal firmware and there you go, it pops up in the menu. I am just guessing, but I hope I am not that far from the truth.
So if you have the car, just ring VW or bring it to them and they will fix it for you for free, instead of looking for a non-existing solution here on the forum.
My car has been fixed two weeks ago and although I am much happier to have this feature, it is not something I really notice, but hey, I am not driving too much in the dark.

In my case vw AUS cant work out why my cars sunroof lights both don’t work and have the option disabled in the software.
Dealer couldn’t work it out over a week of having the car. Vw aus couldn’t work it out when they had it for a second week.
Vw Germany apparently have to advise them what to do(been waiting a week now for some comms)
The lights are there and the dealer has installed the inline fuses.
They are incompetent, but that’s par for the course these days and not vw specific.
