Out of interest what are you guys doing for drone when fitting DP (catted or catless) with the Oem or golf R rear silencer?

I am in the process of getting all the bits to fit a catless DP and with this it will remove the center resonator off the car.

Don’t want a drony car at all. (Allspace 4motion)

Thanks for that responsed to my oil question.
Sounds like it's the norm to run a little hot on these engines. Just remember Gordie telling not to run above 110c as it's not safe to do so and I remember from reading somewhere on various forums etc this to be true. If this is fine now for our Melb season, how with full summer mid 30s & 40s on long journeys?

I had terrible drone when the catted DP was fitted to the existing stock rear muffler. I had initially thought and was told that the baffles in the Tiguan muffler were blown. So I added the Golf R 7.5 muffler and did the custom mod for twin outlets though the rear diffuser. This was loud on idle and droned in 1st & 7th gear if just crusing, it then occurred to me if it was missing the center resonator, which it was as its part of the stock DP from the stock IS20. On boost it sounded impressive, popped and crackled and all but for an everyday drive, it wasn't for me...

So I added a sports resonator and added the stock muffler and it sound nice, no drone and almost like stock. On boost it sounds real nice but I guess some of this sound is from the CTS DP.

Some like loud exhaust systems and if I was still in my 20's it'd probably would of stayed but now as a young matured family man, I prefer my music to chill from a long day!

    Thank you Razor.

I am exactly the same as you. It’s my daily driver and our family car when we go away etc.

I love a good exhaust note, but hate it loud or droning.

Do you know the make or dimensions of the sports resonator you installed.

Loads of people on the US forums are saying the vibrant 17950 resonator, but this is all for the golf and not the bigger interior Tiguan.

Interesting, this is probably the one thing I've not bothered to look into!
That Vibrant 17950 does get some good recommendations.

It's just a resonator, it's not vehicle specific, you just need to make sure you have 3inch pipe either side of it. Using the stock muffler you can just place the 3inch to 2.5inch (or 2.25 or whatever the stock sizing is) converter that comes with the CTS DP after the Vibrant.
The Tiguan may just need a bit of extra piping if it's too short to connect to the muffler.

I just remembered that I have two resonators, first one is in the center of car where the original stock resonator would've been and another towards the rear center. They're both Redback Performance 3" hotdogs then into the stock 2.5" muffler pipework by the axle. Both look very similar to the vibrant 17950 you've mentioned.

Both resonators were added after I installed the Golf R muffler but tone was too deep but loud and vibrated in the large cabin that we have in the Allspace's. Drone was a lot better but by this point I had enough and said sod it just put the original muffler back on. Well I wanted a performance "sleeper" and that I have now. Happiness!

I know it sounds extreme to have two but the stock one is actually huge and more restrictive. With the two on a 3" pipe deadening the drone has its positive effects. So I'm a happy chappie

You gotta do what you gotta do.

I just find it interesting the difference in experience you have had with the LWB compared to tigger73 with his SWB.
