Just wondering if having all this work done, you need the car recertified by Vic Roads

I think in NSW once you increase power by more than 20% you need to decertify the vehicle

I think that ruling of +20% covers anyone with a stage 1 tune. I don't see how this is practically enforceable as anyone with a stage 1 tune will look completely stock.

This 20% ruling will apply to 80% of modified vehicles on Victorian roads and I'm sure they're most likely not recertified.

As for me, as far as I'm aware all components that have been appiled or to be installed, have there own certification and Australian approval. My engine is still the same bore stroke (2.0ltr) and will still be using the same brake booster, fuel systems, catalyst and safety equipment.

They only wrote the rules so that the police can go to any car meet and defect everyones cars. Pretty much every modified car wouldn't meet this criteria and would have to be recertified. It's just another tax and way to make life difficult for anyone who wants to personalise their car.

Reality if your car still looks pretty much stock then there's not much that anyone car say/do. It's too hard to prove anything on the side of the road if you're still running close to stock height, wheels are inside the guards and there's no obvious modifications in the engine bay (open pod filters etc).

Just out of interest then, does anyone know how much to recertify or can a stage 3 tune be recertified?

On the numerous pages I've read on this is tlto get a VASS certification can cost between $550-$2200 but these are going back a few years!
The obvious things on my is the CAI and the brakes when that's installed but saying this they are ADR approved. My car should alds pass emissions since I'm still using a catalyst and the exhaust will not be over 90db, I want to draw less attention to it and still meet regulations.

I really wonder about some the old bangers you see around, most are clearly modified and look a tip! Wonder if they've been asked to be recertified to meet compliances.

Today is exhaust day, well rear section anyway. Going to get the Golf R rear muffler modded to have pipes extended. Not going to use the valved section so will cut it off or weld up.

What I noticed yesterday when at Etuners to fit the adaptor and new solenoid, that the Allspace R-Line are non-resonated from stock! I was told from the dealership that you can now hear the farts, which I could hear but not loud like the Golfs. So from Cat-back its just straight pipe to the muffler box. Probably another reason the stock muffler failed especially after stage 3! I did take some pics and will upload later of old and new.

Baffles blew. No leaks in fitment or anywhere from join to turbo or downpipe.

Is that because the higher output engine was trying to push too much volume (exhaust gases) through the original muffler?
