Thanks guys, it has all turned to poo in the last few minutes anyhow, the 162 is not available until January 2017 and the diesel is released next month. I will drive the 132 this coming week but I am not buying it.

The 132TSI will actually be a bit quicker than the 140TDI .... about 7.7s 0-100 and when chipped sub 5s.

It's as much about the performance as the inclusions. By the time you put all the extras that come in the highline into the comfort line you are line ball with a standard highline. All I have to add to the highline is the DA package and I also get the LED lights which by the brochure I have is the only way to get them but I may be corrected if anyone knows otherwise.

Specs for 0-100km/hr data from the German VW site:

    110TSI FWD 6Manual (110kW/250Nm): 9.2sec
    110TSI FWD 6DSG (110kW/250Nm): 9.2sec
    132TSI AWD 7DSG (132kW/320Nm): 7.7sec
    162TSI AWD 7DSG (162kW/350Nm): 6.5sec

    110TDI AWD 7DSG (110kW/340Nm): 9.3sec
    140TDI AWD 7DSG (140kW/400Nm): 7.9sec

..and just in case you're wondering what we're missing out on here (you lucky kiwis):

    176TDI AWD 7DSG (176kW/500Nm): 6.5sec

My suggestion is to move to NZ and buy the 176TDI.

The big diesel would be nice but it might get a guernsey later on in the model run. I can't understand the motivation behind the later release of the Highline cars, if the Comfortline had bi-xenon headlights it would not matter so much but those of us who live and drive outside the metro area rely on good headlights. The bi-xenons on my Superb are a fantastic light, better even that the bi-xenons on our Golf performance and I am hoping the LED's at least match them.

We don't get a 176TDI, the only TDI we get is the 110TDI, if we want more power than that we have to go with the 132TSI or 162TSI

I think it's mainly due to availability of production. The 162TSI is only just getting into the production schedule now.

Yes and we have VWA to thank for the fact that upgraded headlights are only available on Highline models. It would be nice to option them onto a Comfortline (and I'm sure quite a few people would) but then they would sell less Highlines

If you're waiting for the 176TDI you could be waiting a long time as it's not rated for hot weather climates. So unless they change the design somehow I doubt we'll see it here unfortunately.

Ah yes my mistake. Though you do get the 176TDI in the Passat so I'm guessing they may also bring it in the Tiguan at some time in the future. The engine is an option for the Highline in Germany so it's not a big stretch for them to bring it to NZ also.

Yes we do get it in the Passat although the top model TSI R Line is 206kw so they are obviously keeping that range a bit different. They might keep the 176TDI exclusively for the Passat. Then again who knows with VW.

With a tune on the 140TDI, I'm guessing you could hit those figures easily? I had a VW GT Sport with a Bluefin piggyback and got increases similar to that.
