    Performance Figures

Has anyone found any comparative performance figures for the different motor options? I am about to start the order process and it is either going to be a 162 or a diesel, I have a diesel Superb at the moment BTW. Things have changed now because of using the Audi 7 speed box and I have a feeling that the diesel just got a whole lot better because of it. Even before driving the two I know that the diesel seat of the pants feeling is going to be entirely different to the petrol and doing any sort of comparison especially in suburban areas is just about impossible.

And why has VW not put Traffic Jam Assist in this car, it is the major thing it is lacking! Damn! You have to wonder if it is there but not activated.

What sort of specs are you after?

According to the NZ Brochure the 162TSI has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.5sec and a top speed of 220km/h.

We don't get the 140TDI over here, if we want diesel we have to go with the 110TDI which has a 0-100km/h time of 9.3sec for the 4Motion model and a top speed of 200km/h.

0-100 of the diesel now you have given me the 162 number, I can't find it as most of the Europeans test the smaller motor. I have just found a video and a roughish time looks like 7 seconds but real numbers would be nice. Thanks.

I have found this what for what it is worth and the time quoted is the same as the petrol....VW Tiguan Now Available With 217hp TSI & 236hp Biturbo TDI Engines

The twin-turbo 2.0-litre BiTDI direct-injection engine is the most powerful diesel unit in the segment offering 236hp (240PS) and 368lb ft (500Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 2,500rpm. The top TDI version of the Tiguan is now capable of a 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 141mph (228km/h).

Sounds good to me, torque everywhere.

Big difference performance wise between the 162 and the 140. 140TDI will do 8.6s 0-100km/h which is more than 2s slower. AS speed picks up from there the gap will further widen.

EDIT: further down the track if you were to tune them , the TSI will be sub 5s whereas a tuned TDI will still not match a stock TSI.

Interestingly the 140TDI is just under 40K Euro which converts to $59K. Not sure if that includes onroads in Germany either.
