We VW Australia had a special offer on the 5 year warranty on purchases after October (I think)
I bought mine late July and delivered early Sept and just missed out on the special 5 year warranty
I think they moved to 5 year from Jan 2019?
Hi All,
i was originally looking at a132 TSi,
but after finding the dudes at the VW dealership tough to deal with,
decided to check out a 110TDi at another dealership
Thought it wasn't a hell of a lot slower than a 132 and should be a decent amount cheaper to run,
and its replacing a 110HDi citroen grand picasso.
Have people been happy with the performance and fuel economy of the 110TDi,
or am i mad not to get a 132 petrol?
I like the idea of being able to do a bit of mild tuning on the petrol variant,
but from what I understand the 110TDI is the same bare motor as the 140? so maybe that's an option one day too
It is mainly used as a family car with occasional long haul trips,
Perth to Exmouth, Esperance etc and to haul rack of 4 mountain bikes to the hills
Also does anyone know if these are any 2018 TDI's that got the 5 year warranty?
Cheers

Warranty is for new cars sold after 1/1/2019(or whenever it is) it doesn’t care about the vehicle manufacture date.
As long as the car hasn’t been registered before/demo, you get the 5yrs
Also, the 5yr thing was a promo for the last 1/4 of calendar year 2018 too. So if it is used, check when it was sold/first registered and get vw to check it’s warranty end date.
Hi. Yes had a 110TDI Comfortline with all packs, but sadly it was stolen when just 4 months old (a whole other story) and it did come with the 5 year warranty (as it was a special at the time). Got a 140TDI Highline to replace the 110TDI (and also another story with the insurance company) and am very happy to date and it to has the 5 year warrantly - took delivery of it in July 2018.
Cheers
Thanks for the replies,
I am pretty keen on this TDI that has come up,
the dealer claims it has the 5 year warranty,
but I need to check with VAG,
apparently is it demo from a dealership that went under
Cheers

Just get this dealer (if a vw dealer) to verify the warranty end date. Costs nothing and takes 90 seconds.

We are very happy with ours (MY18.5 Comfortline with all the packs). I agree that the difference between the 110TDI and 132 was minimal - may be a difference head to head but driving them a few hours apart they felt very similar. Our fuel economy varies with the type of driving but tends to sit in the 5.7-6.7 L/100km. A good country run can get into the low 5s.
The only thing to consider is the DPF. Subjectively economy does seem to suffer if we don’t do the odd longer run (even though the auto regen should do the job). Does anyone know if the 110TDI suffers from long term DPF clogging?
great thanks for the replies,
I also felt the 110 seemed similar in power to the 132,
I guess the "torque talks"
a guy in a parking lot I spoke to said they have the warning light come on for the DPF a bit,
ut once they gave it a longer drive and more loud pedal,
its been far longer between Regen requirements

Yes indeed torque is king in normal driving
You can get a tune on the 110 tdi as well as the petrol 132tsi
It wakes the motor up lots of torque and willing to rev a bit more freely
My TDI now makes as much power and more torque at 2750 rpm as it did at 3500rpm also will run to the 4500rpm redline easily in sport or upshift at 3200 ish in drive if you give it a bit makes for a far superior and more satisfying drive
