    Oil for the TIguan

Have been reading the maintenance manual and it writes about a new oil for Tgs being 508/509 spec.

Anyone ever heard of it at all.

Then goes on to list 504/507 for most motors.

Ive got a few packs of that so hope its not wasted

I use Total oils and the rep informed me about the new spec almost 12months ago. It’s 0W20 oil, probably purely developed to further improve fuel economy. I’d stick with the 507.00 5W30 oil where possible.

Yeah says it was developed with that in mind. Havent seen it mentioned anywhere and probably have to put the wife on a street corner to help pay for it

More likely to meet emissions/new WLTP testing, but don't want to open up that can of worms...

0w-20 makes sense for North American and Northern European winters at -15 to -30 celsius but can you imagine how watery it would be in a QLD or outback summer?

IIRC Hondas wanted 0w-20 when they first went v-tec and soon changed it to 5w-30 for warm climates...
