    Oil residue in intake pipes

I installed a muffler delete and intake elbow. I was horrified at the level of oil residue in the intake. Car has 3000km on it. And had an APR stage 1 tune.

Oil on dip stick is around 3/4. I know my Evo used to push a lot of oil out if it was above half.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

I hope you used some of that oil to lube the o-rings for the re-install...

Pretty normal that you get oil after the turbo.

Thanks. But in that quantity? Seemed excessive for the age of the car.

The visible amount won’t seem to change from not long after new - it’s constant ingestion. A teaspoon of oil looks like a lot.
    Cheers

It's a VAG not some well built JDM 4G63 or SR or RB or JZ

I lost about 400mL of coolant with a 7 month car, drove it back to the dealer they told me that it's normal.

To the coolant post- It’s not normal, or within tolerances (well I guess since people accept the answer, it is!) it’s just douchebag capitalism at its “finest” in aus, couple with non-existent consumer protection laws.

Same with using 1l of oil each 1000kms.

My sietbok R33 Skyline didn't use a drop of oil and it was abused on the track, would see 8 to 10 laps driven like it was stolen at Wakefield and never used a oil or coolant and pushing 370kW at the rear wheels on a stock 250000km motor.

It did go bang after 2.5 years of about a 200+ laps of Wakefield, destroyed ring lands, Pistons, bore, and glitter filled the head/block lol. Have a built motor now, same deal uses no oil or water unlike the Tiguan.

Imagine a VAG doing that, would be an urban legend lol.

I do wonder if that oil all all blow by that's being recirculated back into the intake, I can't imagine how filthy the intake manifold must look after a few years.

Might be worth while see if the crank/cam cover breather hose is moist with oil vapours, could be a good solution to install a baffled catch can to reduce oil vapours being pulled into the combustion and reducing fuel octane leading to a lower knock threshold.
