No Reverse Camera or Area View - "stuck" in Park Pilot only

So I throw the car into reverse to get out of my garage and the display is in ParkPilot mode.
No option to switch to Rear Camera or Area View mode.
Can't seem to find any setting or option to restore Rear Camera
Turning Auto Switch to ParkPilot does nothing

I contacted my dealer and they said they can't fit me in until the end of November (but fortunately I have a service booked in two weeks) ... but still, 2 weeks without a rear camera is a pain now that I've grown accustomed to having one (my first 2 'SUVs' had no camera, but it's amazing how uncomfortable one feels without them after 7 years of having one)

So I'm after clues. Has anyone experienced this? What was the solution?

Have you tried pressing the camera/park assist button whilst reversing next to the transmission lever?

Mine has done the same, pressing this button cycles through the modes from memory.

Yeah I tried everything - no luck
The option to switch to Area View is greyed out

Big shout out to a certain western sydney dealership that are "booked out" until the end of November so they won't be looking after me ... fortunately I have already booked a service in the middle of the month so it's only a 2 week wait to fix a defect

Needless to say, my next VW will be purchased elsewhere

    I had this same problem
All of a sudden it just stopped working. There is a firmware update and VW are aware of the problem. There is a bulletin about it. They’ll just need it for a couple hours which is annoying

I had a scan of the OBD11 and it identified no communication from the module to the camera or something

You'd think that when I described the issue that the dealer would have said "oh, that, yeah we know about it..."

But I guess they're "booked out" so they can't be bothered fixing something for free

Well my dealer had no idea about it and I think they had it for some hours before updating the firmware, they had it almost all day, whether it sat there for a while before being looked at not sure

Surely you can get it in there before he end of next month that seems stupid.

This happened to our tiguan a few months ago too. It was after our annual service so had to take it to dealer (artarmon) again.

    Welp

2 software upgrades and no joy

now they can finally tell me it's the REAR camera that's not working (so the other three go out in sympathy)

... and it'll be in the shop for up to 2 days to sort it out!
