MY18.5 or MY19 - Difference ? Should I Wait ?

2017 build, MY18 - cars manufactured June 2017 to Dec 2017
2018 build, MY18.5 - cars manufactured Jan 2018 and May 2018
2018 build, MY19 - cars manufactured June 2018 to Dec 2018


Does anyone know the difference between MY18.5 and MY19 ?

i.e. what additional extras would come with an MY19 Tiguan 162 Highline compared with the MY18.5?

Specs for MY19 won’t be out until mid-May when the dealers can order a MY19 spec vehicle.

At this stage my guess it’ll be minor updates until a mid-life refresh/facelift in 2020/2021.

At this point there’ll be some minor engine tweaks (e.g.162 will go to 169) and new front/rear bumpers and headlights/ tail lights with dynamic indicators.

That’s just my prediction based on what’s happened to the Mk7 Golf.

Don't forget VW / Audi also take away items with MY changes. Sometimes they delete things like seat drawers, and options packs can get smaller.

No. I’m giving an example of past times over different models...Polo GTI lost under seat drawers, Audi A3/S3 lost features.

Sometimes the first batch of cars come with more goodies.

2 x USB front centre Console
1 x USB rear centre Console

Rear tailgate:
Engine type badge deleted
Only has 4Motion on right & Tiguan on left.

QI charge pad?
Signal boost pad?

I reckon they don't offer the HUD here because the road sign recognition is rubbish due to poor signposting here in OZ.
QI charge and signal boost would be awesome, particularly signal boost in remote locations. No idea why they don't offer it here and I wonder if it can be retrofitted with genuine parts from Europe or US.

P.S. Two USB in front and one in rear were features already added to the MY18 Highline.
Deletion of engine type badges and ESC/Traction control button next to the gear stick are reported MY18.5 features. Do you have the ESC button?
