I would be interested in finding out too.
We're going for another test drive on Monday of the RLine (just want to confirm that we like it) but over the phone the salesman has said to expect a premium of around $1k for the Wolfsburg. But then he prefaced my request for another test drive by saying "If you're going to buy a $65k car ..." so it would be good to have some sense of how realistic their price is. When I check the VW website it suggest the drive-away price for a RLine with DAP (no sunroof) is $59,400.

I got $61,000 with no sunroof but with boot liner. It’s not far from what you guys got.

Same price me - boot liner and rear bumper load protector. I am sure with plenty lining up it won't be easy to do a lot better in the near future.

Guys...fwiw this has been my experience...
When i tried to negotiate months before the car being released...i always felt like dealers had the upper hand...they played on my “want to have that car” feeling and were quite confident in saying...nope not a single $ off retail for example..same bs...we have limited cars and we can/will sell them at full price....
As the car got nearer and nearer...i could sense a bit of give all of a sudden...especially as soon as you start getting fleet companies involved....
Dealers know that people coming into the dealership now are already convinced on buying the car...its just a matter of getting as much money from you as possible...
My recommendation put down a deposit “subject to final price” and then as the date comes closer negotiate hard...it worked for me
Jusy my 2 cents sharing my experience..
Thanks for the heads-up - I sort of assumed this would be the case, but I'm a bad negotiator (that's why I bring my wife along!).
I'm going to try to use the connection with the dealer (last two cars bought there, my son works for them). If that doesn't work, I will also use my father-in-law's broker - normally, he gets Mercedes and Lexus but I assume his broker would stoop to dealing with VW.
