"Cars that are fitted with a petrol particulate filter cannot run on Australia’s fuel which has an exceedingly high sulphur content – some 50 parts per million [PULP] as opposed to the European standard of less than 10," the letter continues."
That's right VW - fckoff with your Petrol Particulate Filter - we don't want this rubbish added to petrol vehicles.
I believe the 169kw engine is the same engine currently in the Golf GTI. It was updated from the 162kw to this 169kw. Albeit the GTI is now getting a 180kw block.
I can’t imagine there are any issues related to fuel quality. The 169kw is also the engine coming in the new Audi Q3 45 variant, so I think it would only be a matter of time before the Tiguans across the board carry this one.
Just picked up my MY19 Tiguan Allspace Highline 162TSI - Platinum Grey Metallic - Sound and Vision and R-Line. LOVE IT!!!
People trying to order the 169kw motor in the UK are now being told the offer has now been withdrawn and they are now only taking EOI's to judge if it is worth importing. It appears from the German site that all Tiguans will get the new AID, the proof is in the eating but I can't see that it pays them to use two different dash's. It would seem sensible that VW can use the same dash right across the whole range of cars they sell and just configure it differently for each model and brand. It will save them serious amounts of money doing that.
EDIT: This has changed overnight and now it is avaliable in the UK. VW actually rang a customer to tell them the option was available, I can't imagine VWA doing that myself.
