Yeah, we noticed that from reading the German forums a few weeks back. Kind of makes the fake exhaust façades a little more honest now .

Yup, from a design point of view they look elegant, but I'm not sure if that fits the intended image of the 162kw R-line, but, like you say, with pipes on both sides at least it looks more honest now.

In case you guys are interested VW NZ have revamped the Tiguan page with a whole lot more info including an updated spec sheet with finalised details of the 162TSI R Line we get. Up until now the 162TSI R Line specs had been listed as Draft. Comparing the details only a few things have changed from the draft but it does now list the confirmed weight and fuel consumption figures. There is also finally a brochure although I think this is pretty much the same as what has been I the OZ site for a while now.

Can't believe the options available for NZ and the so very limited customization in AUS, great for you guys in NZ but totally doesn't make sense we can't get that here

In some ways we are a bit limited though, we can only get the R Line as the 162TSI and the only TDI get is the 110KW model. Not an issue with me as I am not interested in the TDI and was only after the 162TSI but I am sure there are people over here that would like the R Line kit on the lower spec engine.

We do seem to have better access to the optional extras though however the R Line model seems to include most of them as standard (sunroof, Oryx Paint and Dynaudio are the only options you can add) so this will have pushed the price for the R Line up but again I would have added all of them any way so not really an issue for me.

Thanks for the link to the non-draft specifications. It seems I had calculated the combined fuel consumption spot on... LOL. Funny however how the weights have changed; the 162kw R-line is (with 1594kg) now by far the lightest of the 4Motion models, and with 201mm ground clearance (instead of 200mm on the draft), the highest...

I've just downloaded the brochure, it is the same as the paper one I got from Tristram, Auckland, early October.

I did notice that, I can understand the 162TSI engine being lighter that the TDI but cant work out how it is lighter than the 132TSI model. It does help with improved acceleration though .

I kind of like the idea of just having the R-Line as a separate variant, rather than as a pack to add on. But over here I think they've realised that by having it as a pack there's more opportunity to make more money (there are quite a few 140TDI's with R-Line pack being sold).

I really can't wait to step inside the 162TSI when I get it and test out the performance. My 147TSI Jetta has a lot of pull, but achieves 0-100 in 7.7 seconds. Really looking forward to seeing what it's like in 6.5 seconds

I had a look at the German specification list, there it says that the weight for the Tiguan 162kw is 1669-1862 kg.

disagree with the sentiment here Gladbach. In my view a seperate R variant should be a real R - currently just golf and Scirocco R's. Of course R32 and 36 and Toureag R50 in the past. While there are some worthy aspects to the Tig R line package in my mind it falls short of a model in its own right. A Tig R with the r pack kit plus a 200+ output would be a true R imho.
Scirocco: Indium Grey, DSG, pana roof, Sat/Nav, Dynaudio, VWR springs and APR stage 1. Now sold
Arriving April 17 Audi S3 sedan, Panther black, S-tronic, PP2, pano, matrix lights, assistance pack, 40:20:40 seats, mirror pack, light inlays

Tiguan: Tiguan 162TSI, DAP and pano in Habanero
