Those who drove the 140TDI and found it a bit laggy in response. Did you ever tried the different drive modes like ECO or SPORT?
Did it change the character of the car at all?
Perhaps ask the question on a Pommy Tiguan forum, the car has been released there longer than here and they are coming into their winter. I don't know if the Tiguan has been released in Canada but that could be an option as well.

I change from TDI to TSI. I own a GTI and thought that I love how it drives so why change to an unknown feeling when I'm happy with it currently.

From what I've read in the German forums, the 162TSI is a lot more responsive than the 140TDI. One of the guys was saying that even when in 'D' it was quick to accelerate.

I'm not buying the 140kw at any level. I own a 125tdi and know the performance of it and to get into a car 15kw and 50nm better I think I should feel a car that accelerates way quicker and that did not happen. I do wonder if the power levels of the 125tdi series was understated and the 140tdi might be closer to the truth. I would be very surprised if the 140tdi Tiguan is any quicker than my 125tdi but that is only by the seat of the pants dyno and i could be wrong.
Every review I've read said the 140TDI didn't feel as powerful as the 132TSI. You can imagine the scrutiny VW would be under re their diesel engines and claimed enviro stats. It's not a great stretch to imagine that this engine has been done 'by the book' and hence its performance has suffered as a result.
@ Bassik, the function of the "automatic" button on the back door is that it will wait until you've moved away from the car, and then close itself. It gives you time to get something out of the car with two hands etc.

I've been reading the German thread that was posted earlier (I speak German) and found this for the 162kw engine (r-line): it has the fake exhausts, BUT with two pipes, one on either side, as opposed to the diesel version that has two pipes on one side (left).
