The R-line they have there is a 140TDI. There were some photos of it coming off a plane at Sydney airport a month or so ago: MY17/MQB Platform Tiguan Discussion Thread
So does that mean we don't get the fake trapezium exhausts?

It looks like the 140TDI gets the "standard" twin exit.

Yep, the brochure says that the 162TSI R-Line (only) gets the trapezoidal exhausts

Brochure says "Trapezoidal exhausts left and right on the 162TSI Highline give it a purposeful appearance."

No mention it's specific to R-Line.

Is anyone cross-shopping with the BMW X1? A mate who was keen on the Tig has just purchased an X1 25i Msport for $62.5 otr, which looks pretty good value to me

They advertise those as a demo for 72k.... have to be closer to 80k new. That's a big drop....

The Msport pack doesn't look as sporty as the r line, the front seats look good though

The Audi Q2 also looks pretty good for those looking at X1 as an alternative to the new Tiguan.
You have to not need as much space as the Tig has to consider though.

I say VW shouldn't be holding to the attitude of no discounting Tiguan2 when the competition heats up

Yep I'm a BMW guy and got given the same price.

Drove a 132tsi on Sat and then went and drove a X1 25i without M Sport and I really didn't like the X1. It felt like a van to drive and the engine didn't feel any more powerful than the 132tsi.

The seats I test drove were obviously the standard seats and I did sit in a M Sport 20i which felt much better. They're trying to get me back to test drive the M Sport 25i but I'm not sure it was just down to the seats. The whole "feel" was of a people mover type vehicle.

Anyone notice that the new Tiguan (and perhaps other new VWs) have a completely different accelerator pedal design? I've had two VWs over the last 10 years and they both had that sewing machine style pedal which was quite different compared to other manufacturers. It took me a while to get used to in my 2006 Jetta. I have to say, I prefer the more conventional style in the new Tiguan. I wonder if it was something that turned off new VW customers coming from non-VW vehicles.
