Training and media events have been going for the last couple of weeks up at Byron Bay. They can't have everyone up there at the same time so run multiple sessions over the time.

The R-line they have there is a 140TDI. There were some photos of it coming off a plane at Sydney airport a month or so ago: MY17/MQB Platform Tiguan Discussion Thread

So it's not even the 162tsi. I would like a review on this in the R Line model

I saw the new Q5 was released overnight. Slightly underwhelming. May not be enough to tempt me up from a Tiguan given the VW has a similar boot size

I saw a new Tiguan on the road today (most likely a test drive from the dealer down the road). It had the halogen lights and in all honesty looked terrible from the front. I really can't get over how crap the halogen lights are compared to the LED ones. Seriously, these new Tiguans driving around at the moment are like mobile billboards for the new model, and they're not doing a very good job at creating a style statement. I can understand why people are talking about this car being underwhelming in design appeal (I've seen lots of comments on the review articles). A comfortline compared to a highline with R-pack are like chalk and cheese.

The Trendline does look pretty basic on the outside with the black roof rails and no fog lights. The Comfortline is a slight improvement as it has a bunch of chrome trims + foglights that help lift the car. Highline looks a lot better with the LED headlights, however R-line is where it's at in terms of aesthetics.

I know VW are trying to market the Tiguan as "premium for the people", however they really need to do something about the less than premium looks of the entry-mid level models if they want to live up to the marketing hype. After all the Trendline/Comfortline is where they're likely expecting to get 90% of the sales.

Yeah I completely agree. If they added LED lights as standard across the range then every model would have a premium look. It's disappointing really.

For me, wheels can make the most difference and I think the standard rim offerings on the Trendline/Comfortline does nothing for the car.

If you take a look on carsales.com.au at the moment, there is a new white Tiguan for sale which has been optioned with the 20" Kapstadt wheels and it looks great.

It's also the most expensive listed Tiguan on there at the moment

Their picture of the boot is interesting as it has a moulded boot mat ... is that standard with the car or is there aftermarket customed mats for the new Tiguan already?

Its not standard, there's an official VW boot mat accessory already. You'll find a link to the accessories brochure a few pages back in this thread.

Wondering where they got the price for that car. Most expensive 132TSI on the market. It only has the Luxury pack and not DAP. So that's pricing the 4 x 20" wheels at $12k????
