I'm sure someone at VW does as the cars would have been ordered and a number of them have probably already arrived.

There's going to be some in showrooms later this month.

As far as a brochure I think you'll have to wait until the "official" launch which is in September.

They like to trickle-feed us with enough information just to keep us interested.

Hi, do you think the local ECU tune shops will be able to do a Stage 1 tune straight away on a 132TSI lets say. Do they already have what they need to power-up the EA888 Gen 3 or will they need to wait for something specific for the Tiguan?

You would have to check with individual tuners, however I suspect that they won't know until they get a car in and read the ECU. UK and Europe are ahead of us here in getting the cars so hopefully someone over there already has done some of the legwork.

I know even the Mk7 R took a little while from launch until the tunes started coming out for them, though that was coming from a brand new engine/platform and the Tiguan should just be a variation on a theme (hopefully).

Some people do take brand new cars from the dealership and drive them straight to the tuner workshop. Personally I would wait for 5,000-10,000km to see if there were any issues in manufacturing. I know some tuners won't touch new cars until they have 10,000km on the engine just to be sure that everything is bedded in and that it's not going to come back to bite them.

Thanks for the reply. Agreed 5-10k sounds smart. Waiting 3-5 years for warranty to expire is not an option so I guess I have already committed to the risk I face in certain failure situations. It's really just a matter of how soon.

This is something I will probably do to sooner rather than later... I'm thinking around the 10k mark, will be keen to know what it would do to the 162TSI engine.... Plenty of time to research

Wait until after the first service or get it checked over by a mechanic to make sure everything is 100% before getting any warranty items sorted. Once you're happy then get any exhaust work done first and get the tune to suit. Often a lot of tuners will charge for update to go from stage 1 to stage 2 so just go to stage 2 and pay for it once

Oh and if you're keen I'd swap the turbo out for the IS38 and do it properly

The 162 & the 132 will most likely tune up to the same output, just the 132 will have more 'room for improvement' !

Guessing a stage 1 will take you to ~200kw?

I'm a complete newb to VW's and tuning, but, if just an ECU flash (Stage 1???) will get a 162TSI ~ 30-40Kw...WooHoo!!
