Really I can't imagine putting a tune on a new vehicle you're totally voiding warranty and on new car anything can go wrong. Weigh up the pros and cons for tuning a straight out of box new Tig before making that decision. Even then if you tune it after the warranty that's a 3-5 yr wait before you can start getting any real enjoyment out of it. I hear some pretty good stories with JB1 and other piggy back options. I know it's probably not the safest way but at least you can DIY and take it off whenever especially for warranty claims or services.

A lot of people drive it for 10,000km or wait until after first service and then tune it.

Most likely if you're going to have a problem it will happen early on.

Given I only keep my cars 3 years there's no point waiting until the warranty is over....

Yeah for me not even an option unless it was a piggy back or after 3 yrs. I just couldn't justify it if the car had issues and needed to go in for warranty repair. JB1 would probably be my go to and they are less then half the price.

There's enough evidence from what I've seen to suggest that if they look hard enough they will know a piggyback has been there anyway - the ECU will still datalog all the car's behaviour even if some of the signals are being tricked.

Although I am no expert - and there is a cost saving - it's immaterial when you consider the price of the car and the gains to be had. Or just role with stock and buy some good wheels.

If you tune your car will it void the engine and drivetrain warranty or the whole lot?

If you return to the APR dealer to flash back to stock will it still show up a flag? I remember my Golf R VI being ok from memory but my Audi S3 8V having the new gen Bosch ECU and therefore possibly flags no matter what. Does the new Tig have a new gen ECU?

It only voids the bit of the warranty that relates to the modification - so engine/drivetrain.

To give you an idea I had a coilpack go under warranty and I took it to the dealer and they replaced the faulty coilpack. The tune would have no effect on whether the coilpack failed so they replaced it. So even though it tuned if there are things that fail that are unrelated to the tune then they are still covered by the factory warranty.

VW has changed the way that it detects tunes and there's no guarantees now that flashing back to stock is going to be "undetectable". If you're going to tune it just treat it like you're out of warranty. Look after it, don't thrash it until the oil is up to working temp, perform intermediate oil changes and make sure your maintenance is up to date will all help make sure you have trouble-free motoring. Oh and if you have stop-start then turn it off as it's a bad thing for a hot turbo.

Will the high end Dynaudio with sub woofer be an option? Haven't read/heard anything myself. Anyone have any info?

I'm pretty sure you can just buy a flappy paddle steering wheel and swap it over!

Happy to guinea pig again on the Gen 2 Tig, although if it's offered in the Highline, it's virtually a given that it'll work!

In fact, have one lined up already if I go for a Comfortline or will sell it if I end up going for the Highline!

There's no mention of a higher end audio in any of the information that I've seen. This Car Advice article has the full specs for each model and model options: 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan pricing and specifications

The only difference I can see is the Highline gets the Discover Pro sat nav system, whereas the Trend/Comfortline models get the Composition Media infotainment system.

There's a few factory options that are missing, however I'm guessing VWA is catering for 95% of customers and the 5% that want different options will either have to live with the standard offering or fit an aftermarket system/part.

Yes I know I was just hoping that the 132TSI would come with a flappy paddle steering wheel. The paddles must cost all of $20 to fit in the factory.

I actually had a Mk7 GTI wheel with paddles that I tried to fit into my wife's 155TSI, however couldn't get it to work properly so sold it. Now I wish I'd hung onto it

It says that the Comfortline gets SatNav, so what system would that be if not the Discover Pro?
