Luckily the only manual is in the base model

I did speak to one of the dealers recently and they were saying there was going to be a "price premium" on the new Tiguan. So reading into this there's going to be a few thousand more than current model.
I'll be seriously considering the R-Line 140TDI for the wife when pricing is announced, thou I suspect it will be up against the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 when heading into that premium price bracket. It possibly will have to be white too on the R-line. I've shown the wife the pictures and she wants a test drive ASAP, oh dear this is going to cost.

Does anyone know what rubber those 20" mags will have ? Looking at the pics, it looks like they're pretty thick so will hopefully add a bit of comfort to the ride.

Also, there didn't seem to be any mention of the Offroad/All Track version in the Australian press release, it seems to have a higher ground clearance and steeper approach/exit angles on the bumpers. I though this might be a very popular spec ? But I guess VWA always tend to hold off on their 'All Track' versions as a second marketing ploy 6 months later.

Rim/Tyre sizes for the new Tiguan are as follows:

Tyre Designation Rim Size and Profile Rim Offset (mm)
    215/65 R17 6.5Jx17 +38
    215/65 R17 7Jx17 +40
    235/55 R18 7Jx18 +43
    235/50 R19 7Jx19 +43
    255/45 R19 8.5Jx19 +38
    235/45 R20 8Jx20 +41
    255/40 R20 8.5Jx20 +38

I suspect the R-line will be running the wider of the 20's and have the 255 width tyres.

As far as the offroad version, I doubt we'll ever see it here. There were versions in other countries for the current model Tiguan but it never made it's way here. I suspect that will be the case for the new Tiguan also. I'm sure the marketing guys think that they'll sell more R-line body kits than they will of the offroad so they're better off bringing this model/variant in. There would be a very small market for an offroad SUV in Australia as most of them never leave the bitumen let alone the city

Highline and R-Line models not available til March/April 2017. That means the 162TSI and 140TDI are not available this year.
I have had a deposit down with a VW dealer for ages but he called me yesterday with this info. Anyone else able to confirm this, dealers make mistakes sometimes?

Can somebody confirm whether we're getting the head up display as an option and under which package?

I have a deposit down for a 140tdi, looks like it'll be refunded and I'll need to look elsewhere as that's a little too long to wait

I believe not, which sounds like a good thing as it has been reviewed as basic and not up to standard (though we are getting the Active Info Display).

I know for sure that the 162TSI and 140TDI will not be available at launch. There aren't any approvals/certification for these models yet. I'd heard this also from my local dealer that these models were delayed, but hadn't heard when these were going to be available.

VWA has a heap of current model 130TDI's that are held in storage due to dieselgate issues. They don't have a fix for these yet and will want to clear these out before putting any of the new diesel models on sale. Expect to see some hot run-out pricing when these hit the dealers.

I think this may be the contributing factor to the delay in the new Highline models (which also means no R-line).

Short answer from the information that I have is no.

The driver assistance package has ACC, side/rear traffic alert, active info display, power folding mirrors and area view. There's no head up display included in any of the packages or models.

This may be something that gets added in later model years or it may be something that they don't think people will spend money for in this market.

Thanks. Would've thought this would be part of the drivers assistance package.

Sounds like AU is getting dudded with VWA choosing options again for us.

Also no R line package for the poverty lines?

What the hell are they thinking?

Yes if you want an R-line expect it to be north of $50k as you can only option it on top of the Highline (140TDI or 162 TSI).

Then if you want the ACC and other bits in the driver assistance package you'll be around $55k
