Can't imagine that the Highline models would be more than the Alltrack with luxury package which goes for about $55k. I'dcthibk to be competitive prices couldn't be much more than $50-52k

No if you want LED headlights you'll need to get he Highline. It's the only trim level with them and they're not included in any of the packs.

Correction loaded Passat Alltrack with Luxury Pack (LED, panoramic sunroof etc) $57.5 retail or about $53-54 after negotiating. As a smaller vehicle the Tiguan is positioned to sit below the Passat imo approx $5k retail less like for like...

And here's a couple more articles been published on some of the other motoring websites.

Given the outgoing 155TSI R-Line was only $45K, I'd bet the new 162TSI won't exceed $50K with a little bit more for the R-Line. VW is very price sensitive at the moment and will not dramatically increase the price of a replacement model.

Any news of the heads-up display? I really want that.

Seeing a 162TSI R-Line in my garage by this time next year ......

Found it in your last link

Various option packages have been confirmed, including the R-Line as mentioned, as well as the Luxury Package adding a sunroof among other things, and Driver Assistance package adding adaptive cruise control and head-up display.

When you bundle options in a pack it's almost impossible to please everyone. There's always going to be some things in a pack that you wouldn't necessarily have optioned if you were able to select them individually.

Though it definitely helps from a stocking point of view if you only have a couple of packs/options.

Yeah will wait for pricing, but current models are already close to my break point so I don't hold much hope. Fingers crossed though!

I get why they do the packages, was just hoping it would be similar to the current setup and the sunroof is an individual option. It just irks me that I have to pay an extra ~2k for something I don't use and don't want. It's a bit different to the other options in the bundle because for most of those even if you didn't want them you would use them so at least get some value from it.

I'd be happy if I could order exactly what I want and wait 6 months for it.

You are right, they can't please everyone!

ps. thanks for all the info.

Yes I think that pricing will be similar to the current Tiguan - except that they are in run-out at the moment so you can get a 155TSI R-line for $46k on the road. I'm guessing the 162TSI Highline will be around the mid-high 40's and then ad the R-line pack on top.

I'm thinking you're talking about the Active info display which has the electronic gauges instead of the mechanical ones? This is included as part of the Driver Assistance package.

Yes the only thing you have to work out now is what colour.... There's white, black, silver and grey in the R-line. The other "model year" colours that are available you won't get in the R-line. At launch I think there's a red, blue and orange from memory.

I'm not sure why VW are bringing an orange out but maybe it's to draw sales from the XV crowd. I mean I like it but it's not something that I would necessarily buy.

No, in addition to the Active Display which replaces the std dash, there is a heads-up display on the windscreen in your line of sight. In the new Tiguans apparently that is in colour (not like BMW's 3series in monochrome) and includes GPS directions.

OK I haven't seen any mention of head up display anywhere ( I know it is an option in the UK though). I'll see if I can find out but it looks like this may be one of the options boxes they haven't ticked for our market
