My Tiguan has arrived and this is my experience so far

I have a question. When going to set my own individual driving modes, it has both DCC AND ACC. Going through them manual DCC seems to refer to Dynamic Chassis Control / Adaptive Chassis Control. I'm assuming therefore ACC refers to Adaptive Cruise Control... but how does changing this setting affect cruise control? I mean, you can pick 'sport, normal or comfort...

Changing the settings of ACC will alter how fast the car speeds up after your “cruising speed” has been interrupted.

If it’s in sport, and the car drops from 100 to 60 because the person in front is turning, the car is gonna gun it back to 100 as soon as it’s clear.

If it’s in comfort; it will be a bit more relaxed about returning to speed.

Had my 162TSI R-Line for just over a month now. I do love driving it, but the throttle lag is starting to bother me more and more. I've been driving my wife's 2017 Golf 110TSI Highline the last couple of days and that actually feels noticeably more responsive than the Tig. It will be perception only, but that lag actually makes the Tiguan feel slower than the Golf around town, and in a couple of cases I've found it borderline dangerous when I've gone to change lanes to overtake and the lag has meant another car has then beaten me into a lane change or I haven't been able to pick up speed as fast as I should have against other approaching traffic in the lane. You can get used to it and can compensate, but it's not ideal. Is a lot better in Sport, but you can't really use that around town as it holds the gear way too long after you've come off the accelerator.

Are you always in Eco by any chance? That’s one of the characteristics of that drive mode. Also I’d highly recommend changing the throttle response from linear to direct, via OBDeleven. Really improves things.

whats that? i never heard of it. do you have the OBDEleven process to change the throttle response?

No, I never use Eco. Always in Normal. I've already done the throttle response change to direct in ODBeleven, and I think it made a small difference, but it's still REALLY bad. In fact, I'm not sure it made a perceivable difference in Normal at all. In sport, it feels more responsive than it did before the ODBeleven change, but you can't really drive around all day in sport.

I have the 140tdi engine, but agree. Direct equaled no difference and the throttle lag is horrible. Even worse as the tdi engine has more lag than the petrol. So a double whammy.

Had a Kia Sorrento as a loaner for my wife for 4 days last week. Way more power(acceleration) and no lag. I miss those days and expected diesel behaviour (vs same capacity petrol)

My wife refuses to drive the tiguan, if there’s an alternative.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out. For me the difference was immediately noticeable, but maybe it’s simply because I was so used to the lag with linear response. Best of luck!

I think the next step will be a pedalbox. Just annoying to buy a $60k+ car and feel like I have to do things like that to get the car driving like it should. I'm taking our Golf in Friday for a service, so I might ask them about it if I have time, but expect they will say that's just how they drive.

I have similar view, but after a while I've changed my driving style to compensate for the lag and only get caught out every so often.
I guess I have learnt what circumstances it's lily to happen and so to avoid it, I'll knock the lever into Sport, or allow a bit more time.
