This is already the case in the Europe (and possibly the US, although I’m not certain) where it is illegal for the manufacturers to withhold this information from the independent service operators. Let’s hope the independents are successful in their claim. They will be able to then provide an identical service to the dealer for a fraction of the cost. It will also stop the dealers price gouging the ignorant who still believe that you have to have your car serviced through the dealer or void your warranty.

Wake up people. Support your local independent service providers. Save money.
Just on this point, whilst at a European car specialist yesterday, was listening in on the proprietor having a chat with a chap about a failed water pump and he mentioned a required software update that should have been applied that was related in some way. He said he'd apply it if it had access and they were battling with VWA to gain access so they can offer the same level of service.

So hopefully with enough pressure this will become a reality.

On the local independents, the price quoted for a minor service was significantly lower than the fixed price offered by the dealer and they'd offer me a loan car as well. The icing on the cake is they're 10 minutes from home. Know we're I'll be taking my Tig next time.

Question is why weren't they adjusted properly at the factory or another question, if they were adjusted correctly at the factory how did they get out of alignment by themselves so quick after delivery ...
We'll it rained again and the new blades they put on have fixed the issue. I dont think I'll be buying factory screen cleaner, but why not use cooled-boiled water if I can, no real effort or harm done.

So, hands up who already took their Tiguan to the panel beaters...

    Me me me

A family member drove it out of the garage with the rear passenger door open.... new door had to be fitted. Ouch.

Tap water. You’re not drinking it, you’re spraying it in your windscreen.

Yes, me too! Had just returned home one night, and I let wife get out in the driveway as I eased Tig into the garage. Unfortunately, as I was halfway into the garage, she had a ‘fat fingers’ moment and punched roller door remote control switch instead of front door light switch, crunching roller door on rear of Tig roof!

There goes the no claim bonus....

In 95% of cases tap water is probably fine. If you have high salinity in your tap water (regional areas that are fed by bores) then I’d get a cheap bottled water from the supermarket just to make sure you don’t get a build-up on the jets.

Otherwise I use tap water with bug-off mixed in.

It sounds like we need a ‘confessional thread’... I reversed into a very tight garage and scraped the rear guard and plastic wheel arch on the wall... it was such a light touch I didn’t even notice when I did it...but it happened in the first week. It can’t be blamed on the dealer and my wife is too canny to drive it so I can’t even pass the blame

I need to find a good touch-up kit to fix it - not worth going to panel beaters but would like to keep the rust out. Any suggestions?

I took a chunk out of the rear bumper while pulling the tent out of the boot.... Wife was not impressed as it's her car..

(Maybe it's karma for the gravel rash on my GTI :|)

    confession.
have the world's most narrow carport. Had to measure car prior to purchase. Snuggle in with mirrors folded in, if I literally miss the passenger edge by 10cm I am ok to open the door, not fully, but enough to shimmy out ........ But, opened door, now have tiny scrapes on driver door where the edge hit the bricks.. softly.... but paint is gone, I notice it, not happy. also need tiny touchup kit...
