You're quite often happy with what you're getting, until you realise someone else is getting something better

I can understand if VW (and Audi) don't have some features on vehicles because they save on lower spec hardware. They produce the vehicle cheaper so on sell it cheaper. I get that.
But that's not what's happening here.
A lot of capability is just not switched on by default. WHY????
It's exactly the same hardware, but in a typical German act of bastardry they deliberately switch it off. It's not just the numbskull Australian regulations to blame as a lot of this tech and capability is available on other manufacturers vehicles. No it's just their attitude.
Contrast this with Korean and some Japanese manufacturers that release firmware updates to enable functionality that was never originally available. Take Hyundai for an example. They released a firmware update that enable CarPlay on vehicles that were never originally fitted with it. The owners never expected it, but got a pleasant surprise. Contrast now with this bunch of arseholes. The capability is there, but they will steadfastly refuse to enable capability for you, even if the hardware is staring you in the face. That's why so many of us have taken matters into our own hands with VCDS programming.

Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. ETA: late April / Early May. I did not have to wait.I took delivery on 11 March 2017.
I'll write a letter to VWA about all this crap. They should have made it clearer when they were luring in the customers. I equally blame the dealership as these guys still don't know much of the stuff despite getting training at Byron Bay.

A few day looking at a mobile box is not what I call training.

I remember one of the sales guys at the dealership telling me not to watch any videos on the Tiguan from overseas when I asked if some of those features were available in the Australian Tiguan (this was when they were first launched in September). He seemed a bit pissed off and it sounded like lots of people had asked him similar questions about features that were available overseas but not here.
