My Tiguan has arrived and this is my experience so far

Hi All,

Long to lurker, first time poster.

My Tiguan 140TDI, R-Line, DAP and PANO was on the Don Juan. I am picking mine up tomorrow afternoon. It actually arrived at the dealer (Brighton Bolkswagen) on Thursday afternoon. Guessing depending on your dealer it might add some time to the delivery. However I did find this article on the Port of Melbourne website that may speed up delivery times.

It would seem that can do pre-delivery work at the docks now rather than taking it to the Patrick's Depot.

That's good to here then. Your dealer is far closer to the port than mine plus I guess it is a case of getting them past compliance, checked and prepped and out the door as efficiently as possible.

Anyway that's good news as it means that everyone else's cars can't be too faraway. So far as I know there are at least three other cars on the Don Juan for members of this forum.

Think you're jumping the gun. My ship landed a week before yours and car's being delivered to my place on wed. Takes at least 2 weeks from when the boat docks.

As noted in the above comment, looks like I wasn't jumping the gun at all.

Spoke with my dealer today who told me he's aiming for Saturday delivery at best.

Pretty disappointed we won't have it for our trip.

Has anyone else received ?! Need some more photos and stories.

I'm receiving my 162 Highline this Wednesday.
Went yesterday just for the final test drive and was happy with it so I'll be picking it up this Wednesday.

This from the Passat thread this morning:

It has actually arrived in Australia and is currently at Patrick Stevedores in Laverton. I've been advised there's a backlog of 2000 cars requiring fumigation and compliance certification. Apparently all new cars get inspected and fumigated in case of undesirable bacteria. Once all this is done, car goes to the dealer to get the after market stuff done to it. Upshot is I can expect delivery late this month or early February.

No surprise re the backlog given Christmas and New Year. I guess the 499 VW's on the Don Juan (that were on the same manifest as our car) will gradually find their way to dealers in the coming few days. Just adding to the anticipation.........

Hi there I had a similar experience. My vehicle was shipped from Adelaide to Brissy and there was a 3 week delay, picked it up on Dec 30. Patrick's don't provide much info I'm afraid.

Yes my Tig is on the Talisman. But will need to wait a couple of days for it to make its way to Port Kembla.

Now I'll just have to figure out a way to stop myself from checking the vessel tracker everyday!
