Awesome, thanks heaps Schland77. I have a 3 & a 5 year old. I guess your version of "normal" would be an "average" sized person who isn't slim but carrying a bit of baby fat ?

Hello everyone, I just saw today that the rear bumper of the 2017 Tiguan has a cut out on the bottom of the bumper. Does anyone's Tiguan also have a cutout at the bottom of their rear bumper?

Cut out for the OEM Westfalia towbar, that's standard in every county but Australia, I would suspect. The Westfalia connects vertically from underneath the bumper.

Tig Comfortline, delivered October 2016.I have a problem with the steering, it makes an odd noise when turning the wheel. I had it looked at today. The problem was diagnosed,a part ordered and I'm booked in to get it fixed in 3 weeks, all under warranty. I get a loan car for the day. They offered to wash and vacuum the car but I was in a hurry to go. No fuss, no haggling, very happy.

The cutout is for the fold away automatic towbar, and the "easy open" sway-your-foot sensor.

    That would be right.

You know that very convenient drop down tow bar that the rest of the world can use, but the Australian Standards Association has decided is too dangerous for use in Australia.

You know, just like the much safer ISO fix child restraints which were, until recently, banned in Australia despite them being much safer, much more convenient and less prone to incorrect fitment than the top tether seats mandated here.

Sure that's not just a gaping hole under the bumper though right? Did you remove a cover or something? I've looked under the bumper before to check out the exhaust set up, and the ones I checked didn't have a cutaway like that.
