Yes I had done that You go outside the car to make sure it does what it says You cant tell from inside.

If one is given such detailed instructions it pays to follow them step by step, whether you think it matters or not

I had something similar happen to me, so I just went and rechecked the last set of steps in Module 4B - and I must of missed one of the final steps, as once I re-did them all again, everything worked fine, and the errors disappeared.

I have just got back from some country winding road night time driving, and the DLA system works really well.

Ok, figured out the issue - I didn’t realise the ‘bits’ started at bit 0. So instead of ticking bit 6 for example, I was actually ticking bit 5. Thanks all!

Not sure if this has been covered previously, it's in regards to the highway/"country light" setting with DLA (see Audi's teminlogy).

Previously with DLA activated, I had the issue of the RHS lights always being on low beam at speeds above 80kmph, that is the "country light" pattern. Great if you are on the Hume, not so great when on a two lane B or C road in the country.

I've played with Module 4B as described in instructions in this thread and disabled Byte 10, Bit # for "Highway_light" via long coding. Counter-intuitively, I've now got the "motorway" beam pattern for all scenarios with the usual adaptive beam forming for masking traffic ahead or oncoming cars. Less useful on the Hume/split carriage-ways, but great for back roads.

    my long coding for this mod in Module 4B is now "0000 00 05 01 00 08 56 07 10 57 05 0A" - this was implemented and tested in a MY18 SWB R-line with "mid" lights. No faults recorded

I did the whole head unit reboot, factory reset light settings and "basic setting" routine after making the change.

Hope that helps people if they find they have dipped RHS beams at speeds above 80kmph.

Nice find and thanks for sharing.

With DLA activated on my car, if there's no traffic in front and the speed is above the DLA activation speed, I get high beam on both lights. It only deviates according to oncoming traffic, traffic in front or it detecting street lights.

My understanding is that when you perform the headlight basic setting, it calibrates your lights, hence being on a level surface is required. If you're inside your car, your car technically isn't "factory level", albeit only very slightly off.

Interesting. Does this mean if we wanted to raise our headlight level, we could park on an incline, and therefore it would calibrate the headlights higher than if on flat ground? And vice versa?

Not in my experience. I did mine on my sloped driveway and it still made them correct. I suspect it references the rear suspension height sensor, rather than a mercury switch- or alternative levelling measurements.

Massive props to Phonebooth. Perfect walkthrough mate. You have managed to succinctly detail exactly what is needed to be done. Worked a treat. First go. Thanks for taking the time to write it up!

Managed to drive along a dark road with traffic in front and on comming just now. The lights are so much better. For those in Brisbane familiar with Jinker track the DLA was so good. Lighting up both sides of the road and effectively masking the car in front and oncomming cars. Even through the twisty bits!

Well thats good to know as whilst I did it awhile ago I havent been out at night to try it .

One question If you have a car in front of you and another one approaching how does it split the lights to keep both in the dark (so to speak)
Does it have two masked bits or just one wider one and lights up the edges on each side of road

It can only mask one area, but it can change the width of the area. Eventually it gives up(limit of mirrors and sideways motors) and shuts off 1 or both high beams- as needed.
