I have done it, will need to see if I have it written down somewhere.

    Edit:
Looks like I hadn't written it down when I made the change and just did it when I stumbled upon it.
Just did a quick google for Golf Mk7 version, try this:

Yeah I know that it’s just the cars behind you don’t expect you to slow down.

Going to code it out because it’s possible to cause an accident the way it’s working. Rather not get rear ended.

    Success!!!

It wasn’t quite as easy as I had to find which module the setting was in and then required a security access code to change the setting:

    Module: 13. Auto Dist Reg
    Security Access Code: 20103
Long Coding Byte 2: Overtaking Right Prevention Active (unselect)

    Security:

Long coding Byte 2 (default settings):

Long Coding Byte 2 (unselect overtake prevention)

    Module coding:

    Do it!:

Glad you found it, will add it to the library in the first post.

Just to clarify in more detail for others looking at this setting:
This tweak is helpful on the freeway when you are not in the right lane and approach a slower car driving in the right lane.
Usually the car slows to the other cars speed (annoying if the car in the right lane travelling at 100km/hr in a 110km/hr zone) and does not proceed past them.
Deactivating this setting allows you to continue at your predetermined cruise control speed and pass the car in the right hand lane without additional intervention.

Doesn’t even have to be on the freeway. If you’re on a multi-lane road and the cars in the right lane slow then you will also slow to not overtake on the left.

I find this annoying and dangerous. People behind you do not expect you to slow in this situation as it isn’t “normal” behaviour. The slowing isn’t gradual either (like taking foot off and coasting) it’s a more rapid deceleration to stop you from going past the vehicle in the right lane.

At least by disabling the function I have a choice.
