Hi Inasnt,
I have the BMC filter and found it quite quiet, so I removed the snow guard in the airbox and the induction noise is a fair bit louder......I’m not planning to take the Tig to the snow, so I think it’s low risk. I have also changed the elbow pipe between the airbox and turbo inlet, you can source that from VW Racing or on eBay for a replica, that is also meant to increase flow.

Can heavy rain get into the intake with the snow guard removed?

would a HEPA filter work better than activated carbon in removing polutants, i keep reading about higher instances of cancer etc for people who regularly travel in the tunnels, figure if i can improve my odds of making it to retirement (est. 89yrs old)..

For driving through the tunnels every day carbon is what you want.

Never had an issue with the the S3 here in Sydney. The snow grate is before the air filter. When it is very cold, a snow flake, as it's 'floating' could be sucked all the way to the paper filter before actually melting but I doubt rain/water would get that far.

I’ve been through a number of terrential down pours in Melbourne and been ok......haven’t been to ge snow so can’t verify those conditions.

Interesting to compare to UGP, stock was 145kw/310nm to stage 1 177kw/460nm......

It's a Melbourne based car but pretty sure it's not INASNT. Not sure if the owner is on here but to go from 128kwaw to 173kwaw is a decent 35%increase!

Also be interested the hear if the crackles are noticeable with the stock cat-back.

Driving next to a mk7.5 GTI Wednesday, appeared to be a stock exhaust however it was popping and crackling. Sounded cool
