Mk2 Tiguan Tuning

It is most probably not bad for an SUV but no way does it even pretend to be a car to be driven what I would call fast through the twisty stuff. I drove mine for some hours recently through some really twisty two lane road at night and it didn't frighten me but it is only just adequate and no I won't say how fast we were going. Back in the day many years ago if we were asked to dyno a V8 conversion in any four wheel drive we point blank refused to road test it so I suppose SUV's have made some progress.

Took ours through the Blue Mountains a few weeks back, it's no Golf R or S3 but with the extra weight, the ride height you can't expect that. However, the wider R Line tyres make it a very stable driving experience, even when pushing the car and the tune makes it much easier to get past the usual d*cks: 20 below the speed limit then 20 above as soon as the passing lane begins, pull into the fast lane 500m before it ends and immediately slow down.

Different standards of expectation of course so no surprise that some may feel one way or another. It is most probably the first car that I have regretted buying in some ways but that isn't the car's fault as I can't drive what I want to so I bought the car that suits me at the moment. I love the tech etc but it isn't the kind of car that I want to jump into and wring its neck down a twisty road.

Speaking of filters i spend a bit of time in the M5 tunnels in Sydney to and from work. Was considering buying one of these to try and improve cabin air quality. Anyone used these before?

Speaking of filters i spend a bit of time in the M5 tunnels in Sydney to and from work. Was considering buying one of these to try and improve cabin air quality. Anyone used these before?

Maybe a bit, didn't get it for noise just for better flow until / if I got with a CTS or similar intake.

That cabin filter will stop odours as its activated carbon coated. To stop pollen etc. you need a HEPA filter.

Co-incidentally I have been working with odour control for over 10 years.

would a HEPA filter work better than activated carbon in removing polutants, i keep reading about higher instances of cancer etc for people who regularly travel in the tunnels, figure if i can improve my odds of making it to retirement (est. 89yrs old)..

I have the BMC filter and found it quite quiet, so I removed the snow guard in the airbox and the induction noise is a fair bit louder......I’m not planning to take the Tig to the snow, so I think it’s low risk. I have also changed the elbow pipe between the airbox and turbo inlet, you can source that from VW Racing or on eBay for a replica, that is also meant to increase flow.

So the Tiguan too has the snow grate. You really only need this if you're driving the car in heavy snow falls. Small flakes will not make it far anyway. I took that out on the S3 so that's the first thing that's coming out this weekend. Thanks
