It was just the side mirrors, I didn't do the R-Line badge as I like the look of that, it is just from the angle of the photo.

. I used Plasti Dip to do it, probably not the best job in the world as it is the first time I have ever used the stuff but it is pretty forgiving.

The secret to plasti dip is to apply several light coats .It is very durable but will do need maintenance/re apllication if you keepp hitting it with the high pressure washer .
Mr sheen works well on it for a satin shine.

I have used it many times on my bike with great results.

Here is a before and after comparison:

I saw a white one on the UK forum site that came with black mirrors for reason and thought it looked much better. This along with no rear badges I feel makes this look at lot more unique and understated.

It is too bad a finish just not totally smooth although having never seen or done it before I am not totally sure exactly how smooth it gets:

Ignore the colour, the phone camera makes it look a purple tinge but it is black.

I was watching the YouTube videos from DipYourCar for the Gloss Coat after I had done the black (probably should have watched before hand Mk2 Tiguan pictures of your car) and they seem to get the best results by applying a thick wet coat which then dries much smoother. I was doing more lighter coats as I was worried it would run like normal spray paint. I might try applying another coat of black a bit thicker next time before applying a gloss coat.

You are right about the gloss been applied heavy/wet .
The finish on your mirrors is not too bad.It is a rubber product designed to be removed so it will have a heavier "orange peel " than any normal paint.

That's as good as you can get with spray cans, to get a better finish you need to use a gun.

Well, looks like the more you spend on a Tiguan, the less it looks like a 70s Datsun......

    Sweet ride Bradtiguan!!!

I have ordered the same minus the sunroof, tow bar and roof racks.

Great color choice. For me it was a toss up between Tungsten and Indium Grey. Your pics confirm for me I made the right choice.

Please post more pics to help make the wait more bearable. October is a long way off for me.
