Lock Car with Engine Running

Does anyone know if you are able to lock the car with the engine and aircon running. It's something that would prove useful if ducking into the shops for 15mins while leaving your dog inside the car. Any ideas if it can be done with VCD tweaks?

It can be done but in some states it is illegal to be further than 3 m from car if engine is running.. EG turbo timer running on a diesel.

Get a snarky cop and it might cost you
