Its plastic just like the turbo inlet pipe and inlet hose which I am replacing so replacing all 3 at the same time. GFB spring and piston much stronger than stock and will give some noise on throttle release.

On APR they have a huge speel on the benefits of their turbo muffler delete and charge a lot for it when it does nothing and is not easy to install.

Hey Instant, really happy with the progress done with your Tig, really impressive numbers with your tune at the dyno. I have email CTS USA and ask them if they had any downpipe option and told me they didn't offer it. Could you share the link or the references to get it? Or how do you order stuff for our tigs.

I also saw you were going purchase the VWR High-Flow Turbo Inlet Pipe but in the web site of ECS they say it doesnt fit our cars. Just wanted to be sure it the right one since I have to import everything from USA to Colombia, South America.

Try a quality exhaust shop to see if they can make you a custom downpipe. I had one made for my Tig.

There are no parts listed for the Gen2 TIG, but as the parts used all from the VW parts bin you have to work out whats fits off the Golf's.

Downpipe is MK7 R CTS and other makes. GTI wont fit because of the AWD of the Tig.

High Flow turbo inlet pipe is MK7 GTI. Any other intake or engine part is MK7 GTI essentially.

Must have been the day for go fast stuff deliveries

Received APR turbo inlet pipe and ECS inlet hose from the US, $400, with 3 day delivery from ECS tuning, would have been cheaper if I could wait for the CTS turbo inlet pipe but wanted it now.

BMC air filter installed, snow grate removed and APR stage 1 already done.

Enjoyed the car previously, but absolutely loving it now with the extra grunt

    Parts Installed.

Stock Intake, turbo inlet pipe and diverter valve removed

CTS Turbo Inlet Pipe & GFB DV+ Installed

    Racingline Silicon Intake Installed

Removed Stock Intake Parts To Date
    INASNT 162TSI Build Thread-20180626_143612-jpg

The longest part of the installation was removing the stock intake back pipe clamp, was positioned in the worst orientation facing the engine with no room to get any tools in to loosen clamp. Had to remove one of the coolant return lines brackets and slide out the way to get a screw driver and socket to remove it...Have to remove the stock intake first otherwise impossible to get to the bottom bolt of the diverter valve....rest of the install pretty easy, long Alan keys help with the diverter valve.

Took the car for a 10 minute drive to check nothing was loose. Initial impressions, a lot more nice intake noise between 1000 and 3000rpm, comes onto boost a bit harder, nice air release noise from the GFB DV+ when coming off the throttle, not too obnoxious like a full atmo venting BOV.

Working in the city tomorrow so will get 100km for further impressions.

Did a check on the silicon intake house today and found it was loose on the turbo side..

Decided to pull the whole airbox out so I could make sure that it was on correctly this time and get it on at the right angle.

On pulling out the airbox found at the base of the airbox was the second air inlet not connected to anything that I have seen on GTI's on the left of their airboxes. I pulled it off and saw there was a orifice plate inserted in the tube with a small hole.. I left it off and blanked the hole in the airbox with the blanking cap that came with the CTS turbo inlet pipe.

Second air intake must be for emmision control when some hot air is recirculated into the intake.

I thought that was a drain to allow any water that got into the bottom of the air filter box to drain out and not get sucked into the filter.

You might want to double check this as if it is you have just blocked this so water can’t drain away.

You might be right. I will check it next time I drive in heavy rain, if some water is found will just drill a hole the same size as the orifice in the plug... The airbox might not stay too much longer anyway.
