Too late to change now but just gathering some opinions from others on the forum regarding the size for small families?

I agree with Rooboy. The ability to slide the rear seats forward makes it easier to fit prams and pushchairs - when you need to. I guess your 4yo won't be caught dead in a pushchair anymore so you'll only be carrying one. I've only slid the seat forward twice in 6 months, both times I was picking up family from the airport with a pile of luggage. It was very convenient, but the adult passengers in the back would not have enjoyed a long trip - the toddler in the carseat was not bothered.
If I had a chance to wind back the clock, I would've bought a shorter pushchair (when collapsed) so it fits lengthwise in the boot, rather than sideways. It just leaves a heap more space for nappy bags, groceries, scooters etc (My Mountain Buggy, lengthwise, just sits about 4cm too far to close the boot without moving the seat). I'd factored an extra $600 in my new car budget to buy a smaller pushchair - a small price to pay for owning a Tiggy
But I haven't felt the need to do so yet.
This was the case for most midsize SUVs in the market when I was trying them on for size. I didn't even test drive a Toureg - too big and cumbersome for my taste and city dwelling lifestyle. The Kodiaq had much better boot space and I suspect I was going to leave the 3rd row seats permanently folded down - it was a very real prospect. Again, I'm way happier with the dimensions and looks of the SWB Tiguan and don't regret my purchase. Perhaps in 3 years I might test drive the LWB Tiguan version of the day, and consider whether I upgrade or not.
Enjoy your new Tiguan when it arrives Nevs!
P.S. I'll be taking a cautious look at owners opinions of the LWB Tiguan when it arrives - Made in Mexico and have read anecdotal comments online that assembly quality is less than desirable. Anecdotal and from North Americans - take it with a grain of salt.
