I received an email from VW Australia stating car was built. But when I asked my dealer for a vin number they say they don't have one yet. Called VW Australia directly but they weren't keen to assist either. At what point did u guys receive a vin number from Ur dealership?
Cheers.

MY18 Tiguan Highline 162TSI - DSG - Driver Assistance Package Sunroof- R-Line Package - Indium Grey. Oct Delivery
Went to pick up my new Tig a week ago and unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
I received a phonecall at 5:30, 15 hrs before I was to pick up the car. The dealer said "The new car looks great. Unfortunately it is not Storm Grey as I had ordered.". After venting my feelings there is nothing I can do as it is 5:30. So, the next morning I go to the dealership to 'discuss' what is happening.
I had originally ordered the black interior. I was interested in the Storm Grey but as I was unable to see this interior I decided to be safe. I went to the dealership a few weeks later and they had a white Tig with the Storm Grey. My eyes told me tht this is what I had hoped for. So the dealership changed the order, 2-3 mths before manufacture. The factory 'lost' this change.
The dealership was genuinely apologetic. They didn't notice the problem as everything on their system did not say Storm Grey, and the delivered car was not Storm Grey. It was the salesman who picked up on the problem when he remembered what I had ordered. When I arrived the dealership had already been in contact with VW. VW acknowledged the mistake and said that they would organise, and guarantee, the correct car with a delivery in 4 mths, and it would naturally be MY18. Alternatively I could take the car as delivered. I asked about compensation and the dealership agreed to 3 yrs of servicing plus some options (mudflaps, etc).
I decided to take the delivered car. I was happy with the black interior but would have prefered the Storm Grey. I didn't want to wait another 4 mths. Also, with the MY18 it uses a touch screen for everything and, being a dinosaur, I prefer buttons.
So, a disappointing experience, but I am still very happy. The new Tig is great. Best decision I have made for a long time.
I will do another post with my driving experience so far, and others with photos and fuel consumption.
I have updated my signature to remove Storm Grey.

My driving experience now has been for just over a week. And I am absolutely loving it. So much better than the 2002 Honda CRV.
I am still getting used to a diesel and the turbo. I am still probably a bit light footed when accelerating as this produces a bit of engine vibration. More accelerator reduces this especially when the engine is cold. When the engine is hot the car pulls away nicely. The start-stop system is not giving me any problems. I am looking further down the line of cars and start using the accelerator just a little bit earlier than I would normally do (if I am at the front of the line of cars at the lights then There is no warning as to when the lights go green which just means I am half a second slower taking off.
Corering is great. The car corners feasonably flat (no sway). And to assist that the steering is very precise and immediate. I compare this to the CRV where the steering seemed a bit spongy (turn the steering wheel but the car turned just a fraction later. This certainly makes going through/around roundabouts much easier.
The power from the 140kW is great. It pulls away very nicely. I haven't have to use 'full' power yet (to get away from annoying drivers) but I can certainly feel it is there. The power was also noticeable on the motorway. On the long hills it easily stayed at 110 compared to the CRV which often required a drop down in gears and hence higher reving. The cruising on the motorway all happened at about 1700rpm.
I am still playing with the gadgets and having lots of fun.
The most interesting thing which happened was when I was entering Canberra at about 9pm after a trip to Sydney - "The outside temperature is 4 degrees"

My dealer just sent me my VIN number, how do I start tracking it now ? IS it the WWL website and place the number under Booking number ? or in some other field ?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
I meant to say that i got my built email on 1/9 and still nothing on the WWL site for my VIN. I know it's the right field as you can use the % wildcard (e.g. WVGZZZ5NZJW835% will give your ant VIN with WVG...835)
Let me know when you got your email and whether it is on the site or not
Cheers
