Gotcha. Just didn't want to mislead anyone who gets excited about their car getting handed over to production thinking that it will only take a few days from that point to build. If you look at our cars, its will be about 3 months from the time it was handed over to production to the time that we will take delivery (from 24 December to late March/early may for me), and we were lucky to have one of the most direct shipping routes.

When it is handed over to production a build slot has to be allocated. I think VW do this a month in advance.

The ship carrying our Tigs Talisman docked @ Port Melbourne 5.30pm Sat 18 Jan according to marinetraffic and I got a call @ end of today from my dealer to inform me that my Tig has already been complied and should be on VWG Aus stock tomorrow or monday! Looking at late next week for delivery!

Wait. What? The ship docked on 18 Jan and you're expecting delivery on, let's say, Thu 2 Mar. That's 6 weeks!

So it didn't go quite as well as I'd hoped I'm down for a July delivery. Did have the clause in the contract and after much deliberations and this being my mid-life crisis car, I thought bugger it, will wait it out and not compromise what I wanted as had toyed with removing Rline from the order or looking for something else. Nothing else in this segment really interested me except for perhaps the new Audi Q2, but feel it'd be to small and not enough go compared to the 162TSI

So the big wait begins.

Keep the pics coming and descriptions of first drives etc, will help pass the time away

That's annoying mate... worth the wait though. Drove most cars in the price range / class and agree, all underwhelming. Number two for me would be the Lexus, but was never going to do that. Porsche/BMW/Land Rover/Merc mini SUVs too much $$ for the value delivered in my opinion!

You never know, someone may cancel and you could be bumped up. I was lucky to call the dealer at the right time and had already heavily negotiated a regional dealer down (for a September delivery) which allowed me to pressure the new dealer (saying I wanted black).

This forum has been a life saver, easy to pass the time!

I have had my new 162tsi for 5 days now and am very happy with it. I have not found anything I don't like or didn't expect. Probably due to the great information from the dedicated VW Tiguan fanatics on this site.
I have one query though, did you get a luggage net included with your new Tiggy?

Hi all, anyone interested that hasn't purchased yet, there is a sub 50k d/away RLine 140TDI available for sale on carsales. Apparently has some hail damage, but the add suggests minor. Worth a look for anyone living in the area. Too far for me, and I've locked in my 162 in any case. Good luck

Hey All,

Just got a call from the dealer to tell me that all highlines have been pushed back. My original delivery was for 2nd week of May & now they are saying its a 2 month delay, so wont get it till 2nd week July!!! WTF! Anyone got the call??

I just went down to speak with my dealer, and asked if there was a delay, so he checked, you are right it's been pushed back , he told me June .
