I ordered a 162 Highline, R-Line, DAP, Sunroof, Metallic on November 2. It was built in December and is currently onboard the Talisman off the coast of France (using VIN provided by dealer). Sunroofs were apparently the final hold-up on this line. I had the dealer send me a screenshot of NADCON just I could be certain he had the spec entered right. I had dealt with a few different dealers when getting this car and found them to be wildy different in what and when they could get a car for me. The guy in Woollongong still swears that fully stacked Highline's won't be available til April. This has been a crazy vehicle launch, very weird.
So, in Perth, what should I aim for realistically for a 110 Comfortline DSG with DAP - Driveaway - do you think? Anyone bought one here in Perth? From which dealer/salesman? I HATE this process....
Bloody hard to close the rear hatch - so stiff - in the one I tried out today. Had to give it a REAL hard pull, my wife will struggle...

Hi All,
Great news!
My Tiguan has not only been built but is now on its way to Australia.
I have the VIN number and checked to find it is on the TALISMAN currently off the coast of Morocco heading for Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
The expected date of arrival at Port Kembla in NSW is 23/2/2017.
I expect it to take ~3 weeks to finally be available for collection. This puts it around the week of the 20th March 23017.
Big question I seek feedback on:
As my wife and I are going on holidays departing Saturday 25th March to until 21st April 2017.
(A) Do I take possession just before I go in holidays so it is "Safe" in my locked garage? (Our son would be "running it in" while we are away.)
OR
(B) Do I say to the Dealer: "Please do not register this Tiguan until just after I get back in late April 2017.
The Obvious advantages to (B) are that everything starts one month later when I can actually make use of it.
The possible concern is that it can be scratched or otherwise damaged while sitting at the Dealer for the additional month.
What are your thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
David
Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. ETA: late April / Early May. I did not have to wait. I took delivery on 11 March 2017.
Leave it with the dealer.
The same thing happened to us when we bought our Jetta in 2006.
My wife received a call at 12 p.m. when we were in York, England and were told "your new car is here".
We said "sorry we really can't collect it yet, see you in 4 weeks."
No problems when we arrived to collect it.

Just make sure you agree on a date with the dealer up front. Some contracts have terms and conditions around when the customer must take delivery. Mine for example: "The Customer shall take delivery of the Motor Vehicle within seven (7) days of the Dealer notifying the Customer that the Motor Vehicle is available for delivery." Otherwise they may try and charge you some sort of storage fee.

Has anyone found their car being built earlier than the date specified by NADCON?
I was checking through the details of my Golf Mk6 GTI and noticed that the car was built a week earlier than specified. Wonder if the same will happen with the Tiguan I have on order?
