Same as you Beowulf, my 162 RLine+DAP turned up this afternoon. Some initial observations after about 70 km of driving through the Yarra Valley: the lane assist is amazing! - where there are lane markings both in the centre and on the edge of the road, the lane assist subtly keeps the car between the lines.
Coming from a Golf GTI Performance, the ride in the Tiguan is much better, zero wind noise and the handling for a 1650kg SUV is really good. The 162 is really punchy for a brand new engine with only 100km on the clock. The DSG 7 speed works really well - dropping it back to S really sharpens response without hanging on to high revs as the Golf GTI seemed to do. Turbo lag? - didn't notice any as acceleration from a standing start was really sharp.
To those who are waiting for their 162's to turn up - the wait will be worth it.
More feedback later next week after a few longer day trips.

Wow... that's a great first impressionWhar color did you get? Curious to know how hard the ride is on those low profile 20"s. And you coming from a GTI speaks volumes to me about the engine performance.. all those little doubts I had because we couldn't test drive are slowly disappearing...please keep the insights coming from yourself and all the other new R Line owners.... Merry Christmas!!
2017 Tiguan R Line 162TSI, DAP, White. Upgraded speakers.
Whew! I also will be letting our Mk 7 GTI go with quite a bit of regret. If the Tiguan motor is as sharp as the GTI, wow.
Chose white ... looks great in the flesh! Ride is not hard at all in the Normal ride setting. I think the true character of the motor will reveal itself after a good run in period. Bit more driving today so I'll give some feedback on that later. Go to the German VW website and check out the 0 -80 kmh acceleration times of a Golf GTI and a Tiguan 162 ... interesting.
Please post some photos of the ride.......
Good colour choice, that I what I have ordered. Should be at the dealers today I believe but told them to hold off until beginning of January to make it registered in 2017.
Just read the German spec sheets and see the rated times for 0-80 and 0-100; the GTI is 5.0 and 6.5sec while the Tiguan is 4.3 and 6.5sec which is where the 4Motion shows its benefit. I noticed that the times for the 162TSI are the same as the 176kw BiTDI. Also they don't list any times for 80-120kmh for either the 162TSI or the 176BiTDI but they do for all the other Tiguan engines and the GTI.

I really need to drive it on my own as I mentioned I didn't feel the 162kW was that impressive in terms of punchiness. Coming from a MK6 GTi I feel my that is a lot punchier.
How can you guys be getting it already I ordered mine back in August, still got May/June deliver date.
GOLF GTI MY11 ADIDAS Candy White, Sunroof

Your demo Tiguan 162 was brand new with a tight engine so it probably seemed a bit flat to you. After only about 200km in my 162, it's loosening up noticeably.
My early delivery came from my dealer doing me a favour - the car he had ordered for a demo vehicle matched my specs exactly (White R Line Highline 162TSI + DAP) so he said I could have it. Guess I was lucky.
