It's only a car, you are not winning a prize in the lottery.
I have been waiting for a few months and I still don't get it. I hate buying new cars, they cost money and become worthless and I have to be backed into a corner to do it and that happened a few months ago. i detest the instant devaluation, the BS that surrounds the process etc. I have had two stand up arguments with sales stuff and one other I declined to do business with as he would not give me a price on the phone, he wanted me in the dealership to try his psycho babble on me. I wish I had thought of going through a broker but I didn't and that's life. I doubt I will buy another but if I do it will be through a broker. I used to work in the industry and at one time was on the wholesale end of it selling to dealers so I guess that is where it comes from.
To me it's not like wining the lottery, not at all, but one of my life philosophies is "Life is what you make it" (not in a selfish way though), meaning, whatever you do, do it good, make the experience the best you can etc. Even reading the experiences, the journey of others on a similar journey (especially the Tiguan R-line 162kw), adds to the experience, the joy actually.
I love getting new cars (apart from paying for them!), I don't mind negotiating and stuff, I love the excitement when you first get the car and drive around in it, playing with all of the features and stuff. I just hate the looooooong wait!

Sorry but I don't get it. If you hate buying new cars then:
1. Why did you buy one?
2. Why did you not just buy a new car but a totally new model that has yet to be released?
3. Why come onto a forum site full of people really excited about getting their new cars that they have happily ordered and complain about ordering a new car and bagging people that are excited at the prospect of finally getting theirs?
I have no problems with buying a new car, yes you can take a hit on the price when driving off the lot but I only see that as an issue if you plan to sell it really soon after getting it. If you keep it for at least 3-4 years like I usually do then it isn't such an issue. Plus there is nothing like getting into a new car that no one else has driven/thrashed! Just a pity about the wait but I have a good car at the moment so not such a big deal other than the fact that I am a bit impatient

All I can say is "Well said there"
I have never owned a a brand new Volkswagen, all have been 2nd hand or demo's. So this is a unique experience for me especially as the R-Line is a new model and yet to be released and also I was the first to place an order for an R-Line in the BOP. Lets hope I get a bottle of champers for that

Everyone has a point of view and I have put up mine. I like cars, I have been racing and rallying for about 40 years, worked in the industry most of my life etc. You will find that anyone who works in the industry or has worked in it and drives new cars every day has pretty much the same approach as mine, new cars are blah! The reason I bought this one is because I pretty much had no choice for personal reasons that have been forced on me, not because I "want a new car" reasons. I have been on this forum for a long time (2010) now and I came to this thread to see if there was any information on the technology of the car I did not have, primarily wanting to know if it had traffic jam assist in it which it does not, bummer.
