The ford Sync has a small 4inch display on the drivers dash that has lots of options in terms of what to display. Can't configure as preset but for example can see distance, economy, fuel and speed on one screen. On the huge LCD in the VW you get like one line of text for the range only. Seems a waste..

I drove it last night, and bearing in mind i've not own LED headlights to compare, but its not like you cant see haha. They're bright. Well lit. I've seen images comparing both and admit it'd be nice having the LED headlights as i like the blue tone they have but it isn't an issue in terms of driving.

Plus first service free too ($45 so really total discount is 9.5% off of RRP prices.

If anyone has questions ask away. But summed up, its a beautiful car. Incredibly happy and glad i picked this over the CX-5, Sportage or Tucson.
That is an awesome price, I was recently quoted 132TSI + Luxury Package for $48000 drive away so you have a way better deal. What dealer did you buy from?

Long time no speak watercooled. I'm a little bit older since the last purchase (5.5years). Hopefully getting a 132 TSI with luxury and maybe even DAP if I'm lucky. Coming out of a golf R.. Was seriously considering getting the 162 for a little bit more, but coming from a stage 2.5 R, I realise there just isn't anywhere bar a track I can give the car a boot anymore.. Anyway.. Maybe this is being your 30s..

Looking forward to new beast, whenever that may be. Might have to chuck some 19s on the chariot once the Mrs. Has given the stock ones a good go.

ACC is amazing (first time user) but being able to whack on cruise control and it adjust to moving traffic including going from 100km/h to stop and then pulling away again was really fun. Add in the lane assist where it steers the car itself to remain within the lane and I'm blown away. Can't wait until truly driverless cars.
Thanks for your post. I'm really glad you mentioned this - the car that I test drove didn't have DAP so I wasn't able to test out the ACC, and up until now there were doubts about how it would work. There's a feature advertised in overseas models called traffic jam assist, which is essentially what you've described - having the car move with the traffic and stop when needed. I sit in a few KM's of stop start traffic each morning (takes about 20 mins to get through 2 intersections). It would be awesome to set the ACC and just have it move and stop when required.

Traffic Jam Assist uses the Adaptive Cruise Control, but it's not the same thing as Lane Assist. Lane assist is the lane departure warning system and is designed to reduce the likelihood of the vehicle leaving its lane. It will nudge you back into your lane if you try to cross the lane marking without indicating. I think it only works above a certain speed as you don't want it stopping manoeuvring in car parks etc at slow speed. Traffic Jam Assist actually keeps your vehicle in the centre of the lane while using the ACC to manage the speed and is designed to me more autonomous than Lane Assist. Think of Lane Assist as a safety device when your distracted, while Traffic Jam Assist as an autonomous driving mode which only works below a certain speed. 65km/h I think.

I'm more familiar with Audis than VWs as I'm only about to dip a tow into the VW world, but have owned an A6 for a while. I was looking into the new Q7, and on the spec sheet for that it states the following are included in its description of the driver assistance pack:

"Audi active lane assist, adaptive cruise control with Audi pre sense front, traffic jam assist, collision assist and turn assist"

As you can see, Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Assist are listed as different things. As far as I'm aware the Tiguan has Lane Assist and not Traffic Jam Assist certainly in Australia. It's possible it may be able to be switched on through a VCDS tweak as I'm pretty certain it uses the same hardware.

Cheers. To be honest, I don't mind having to steer in traffic, if the ACC will start and stop automatically then it will make a world of difference.

From what I have heard, the acc will disengage if stopped for more than 3 seconds and you will manual have to take off after that. Not sure if it will engage automatically after that or if you will have to reset it

I can confirm that this seems the case. However at it seems very sensitive to movement in front so on the freeway worked perfect. At lights it occasional didn't then move forward but all it took was me pressing the RES button and off it went, no touching the pedals.,
