Yeah consider yourself lucky I guess... How much did you get it for, if you don't mind me asking? Also I mentioned there was a salesmen with me as well however I didn't hold back I drive it hard enough to test.

Have to say , I think a brand new motor doesn't make its max power until at least a few KMs on the clock (3K-5K KMs?).

Every new car I have had, also sounds better after approx. 2500kms when the exhaust has built up those sooty deposits..

FYI I will be caressing my new motor with varied but low RPMs for the first 2000KMs.

I didn't do this for the first time in my life on the Golf R, and it was a nightmare sorting out the excess oil consumption that resulted.

Everyone has their opinion on this issue - some people say that revving the crap out of the motor when its brand new, helps the ring seal set on the cylinder but I don't know if that is true.

Happy Christmas all. I received the "I've been built" email from VW AU for the 162 R-line I ordered. What timeframe for shipping / expected delivery have others experienced that have already received the build confirmation?

Yeah everyone runs in their cars differently with different results. We drove the car without worrying about babying it during run in. It hasn't used a single drop of oil in more than 30,000km.

I got a 'I'm built!' status on Thurs 2+pm Wolfsburg time just as NADCON says its going to be week 51 day 4, so it looks like the 'follow my journey' site is pretty fast to update.

    Merry Christmas Everybody!!

Good to know it might be more of a car by car thing.

I wonder how the 132TSI comfort line guys are finding their cars? Any major issues? Smooth sailing ?! I also want to hear about the people that aren't having any issues which we normally don't get.

I know that there are various schools of thought on run in periods, but what a VW mechanic told me was that the most important thing is to vary the rev range without red lining. The worst thing you can do is go on a long trip and sit on cruise control at 2.5k rpm for hours. I've found this advice quite helpful and have follows it for two new cars I've had.

In any case, Merry Christmas to everyone! This forum has been so awesome. My car started getting built yesterday (not so sure I want a Xmas built car!!).
