Blue and white would be so much better.. all jokes aside the black surround makes the plate so much more.

This no review thing is killing me. Has anyone found a 162 'tis review yet?

You know considering tha VW isn't releasing the 177kw diesel, it's weird they are releasing the same motor in the Skoda..

Has any one of the long waiting 162 TSI Rline orderes have had confirmation of cars been shipped yet? My last update was that my car has been built but that status hasn't changed in the last 3 weeks

Anyone know if the black plastic holder can be removed and the plate fixed direct? If I get chance this week I'll pop into the dealer to have a look.

What size plate for the front would we need to fully cover the black plastic? Alternatively, can it be removed and number plate be mounted without it?

Until there's a 162TSI in the country, there won't be any reviews. I'd expect something in January.

For the 177kw diesel, I watched two separate video reviews a few months back and the presenters mentioned something along the lines of "if you're expecting that 'pushed back in the seat' acceleration feeling then you may be disappointed". Considering that both the 162TSI and 177kw bi-turbo diesel achieve the same 0-100 (6.5 seconds), I'm not sure why there is so much love for the diesel unless you do a lot of kms.

Mine is still only at the ordered stage (after 4 months)
I still remember waiting for my Tiguan 147 (new model in 2009) for over 7 months.

I ordered min in September but haven't heard anything official from VW. I followed up with the dealer last week who said that mine was to be "handed over to production on 24th December". I guess that means it's scheduled to be built I the final week of the year. I'd prefer if they were to wait one more week so that it's MY17 instead of MY16.

That will certainly look great- would have been my choice if I would have gone for white

Went to the dealer and measured it today. The front black plastic holder has a lip at the top and at both sides but not at the bottom. Internal dimensions are 525 x 115. This is OK for anyone in Qld with Euro plates that are 520 x 112 (presume the other states are the same??).

Standard Qld plates are 372 x 134 and the slim ones are 372 x 100. I've ordered custom standard plates but I think I may now opt for the slim ones although it'll leave a strip of plastic on show each side but won't protrude below. Decision now is black lettering on white background or white lettering on black background!

As for removing it there are 5 plastic rivets holding it in place, one at each corner and one in the middle. Unless your plate would cover the holes then probably best to leave it on unless you want to fill and colour match the holes that would be left behind?

Rear is just a sponge strip that can be removed or best just cut down small enough not to protrude but provide protection to the paintwork.

Thanks heaps! That's great to now - in regards to your color choice-I have seen both on various white cars and in my opinion the black background with the white lettering looks much better - if you ordered a white Tig than I think that will look great, however only my opinion- I went for indium grey with Rline pack so not too sure yet what coloring to choose for the plate- but I think I will go for a euro plate or at least a slimline standard thanks to your insight
