Right I am not going to go on about the wonders of AdBlue or what ever but just a word of warning to those of you thinking of buying the 140 TDI. If you buy a modern VAG diesel which is Euro 6 than you will need to take into account the requirement of AdBlue.
Talk to your dealer about it and get information to make an inform discussion before buying one and not being able to maintain it.
AdBlue will be required to be refilled before your 12 month/15000 km service if you doing those kms in mainly urban environments.
There are options ranging from AdBlue at the pump, buying small bottles or taking it to the dealer to do.
Warnings will appear from about 1500 kms before you are empty, so heaps of time to do your shopping. There will be no way you will forget the warnings as the vehicle will be like a kid wanting an ice cream on the beach, it will keep telling you to fill it.
If you do happen to forget to fill it then the engine won't allow you to start it, but the same can be said if you forget to fill it with fuel.
AdBlue has an odour of urine, when using it wash down the area after refueling for any overflow or crystals will form. At the pump it is under a dollar a lt but by the bottle it can be about 5 times that per/lt. It is sold at the pump at major truck stops but your local servo may not be included, look up the various fuel suppliers web pages for availability.
A modern VAG TDI will be your friend even with AdBlue so embrace it and enjoy the driving experience, if this is too much for you than you should be looking at a TSI or go back to a Toyota Rav4.

And what about the dpf system not covered under warranty as well as and damage caused by excessive carbon in the engine because the dpf was not "cleaned" properly by allowing it to go through its filter process? Yes this was told to me by the dealer, any damage caused by only driving in the city and not doing a decent highway run ever week or so will not be covered under warranty
For the first time, I saw a new Tiguan on the road this morning (well, I've seen one other, but it had dealer plates). If you have a black Tiguan and were driving through Frenchs Forest then it was yours
Seeing new cars in traffic among other cars is always so different to seeing them at a dealership or in press photos IMO, so I was excited to see it!
