We are also interested in the 1.8% finance. Difficult decision between sportline and fully loaded 132tsi. We love the DAP and the luxury package has some nice features also but the sportline gets the larger 162tsi and led headlights. The sportline may also hold its value better??? We have only driven the 132tsi and it felt adequate power wise for our needs.
Alternate option is the cx5 akera. Bit cheaper but felt smaller inside. We took it for a test drive and although we felt the interior was nice the engine felt lethargic compared to the 132tsi. The ride also felt a bit firm on the cx5 although this may also be the case for the sportline with larger lower profile tyres.
You might as well go Highline if your after DAP and are considering a luxury package 132tsi. With some negotiating the highline will only be about $1500 more. It will have everything the comfortline has but sunroof.
Annoying that they extended the 1.8% to the 132 and 162 as I would have taken that up when I was buying. But happy for those who take advantage of it.

Yes the major factor being the 1.8% is only available on the Trendline, Comfortline and Sportline. So it makes the Highline a lot less attractive when you’re comparing monthly repayments.
I’m currently just under $50k for a MY18 (2017 build) new Sportline with metallic paint and sunroof. It’s a reasonable deal given the car has to come from interstate. The only hang up I have is getting a MY18 car without the extra USB ports (not a major deal-breaker) but the extra depreciation on the 2017 build is more of a concern as it’ll hurt me at the other end.

We looked at the difference and the Sportline scores most of the options we were after. On my initial enquiries with a dealer I was told that to get the tech I wanted (ie radar cruise control and lane guidance etc) I would have needed to buy the Highline with the DAP option. However on further investigation I found the Sportline comes with all the tech, it just doesn’t have the digital display. The digital display wasn’t an option I was too concerned with nor leather, so in a our case the Sportline ticked all the boxes (the high line was above our budget anyway). Further the Sportline scores the dynamic chassis control which I believe the Highline doesn’t unless specified with the R line package? (Happy to be corrected on that one). The final point was availability to obtain 1.8 finance on the Sportline which made it a very attractive purchase financially.
The bang for buck model is the Sportline, if you want all the bells and whistles you’re paying around $9k more for a fully optioned Highline.
That said if I could have afforded a fully loaded Highline I would’ve bought one, they look sensational.
Where are you located, I was able to get an MY18.5 with sunroof delivered cheaper than you’ve mentioned. I can point you in the right direction if you’re in NSW or happy to travel, send me a PM.

Tiguan 162tsi Sportline
Just got a commercial/fleet quote for a fully loaded 162 - $57.5k
Just noticed that a few dealers are listing the fully loaded as $59,990 - maybe some discounting with the MY19 newly released?
I put the screws into a dealership this afternoon for an in stock fully loaded indium 162 r-line, who would not budge from $61.5k! Told them to have a think about it over the weekend and come back to me when they are willing to negotiate.

Tell him he’s dreamin’ !
I reckon I know which dealer you’re talking about - in Melbourne’s east......? When I was looking back a few months ago, they had 3 fully loaded Indium Grey Highline’s in stock, one which had been there for 7 weeks. I said to the sales guy I was ready to deal and he told me straight out, no deals and that they would sell for $62990. Funny enough, one of them was advertised a month later for $61490 with 200kms on clock.
Arrogant sod. That was the last straw for me and I started to contact brokers recommended on this forum.
