There was another video where a guy tried to wedge an orange into the wheel, didn’t work though as it wasn’t heavy enough. There were a couple of tighter corners where it struggled to hold the line and this could have been due to the weight of the bottle, so you still need to pay attention.

    Hi all
We have been searching for a new car for the past 12 months and finally settled on a Tiguan. We are in no rush.

We live in North west sydney and have tried 3 dealers around here and have been disappointed with the offers.

The 2 cars we have attempted to get deals on have been:
    - 2018 132TSI White Tiguan Comfortline with Luxury and DAP ( prefer no sunroof but have been told that we still have to pay $5000 for luxury package even if it had no sunroof). Best price so far is $52,000 drive away. We were told by the dealer that they are popular and dealers don't need to discount these as they are always in high demand
    - 2018 162 TSI White Tiguan Highline with DAP. Told today that can go to $52,800.

Realistically what is the best price we could expect to get for either of these cars in Sydney ??

    Thanks

    Anna

You’ll do better on cars which are in stock, so the best way to get a deal will be to call all the dealers (I called 20+ PM me if you want info) and see if any have the car you want with the options you want in stock. You may have to settle on a few colour options you can accept as really specific criteria will leave you few options.

I was also told they were very popular and hard to find during my search, the dealers who told me this generally offered the highest prices.. I found more than enough of the model I wanted to get some competitive offers.

Nothing wrong with calling and asking them if they can beat the best price you have been offered, there are a lot of Volkswagen dealers around.

Above said $52,800 for a high line with DAP doesn’t sound like a bad price.

Have tried calling dealers but many don't call back and others refuse to negotiate on the phone.

Even in person I have had arguments with 1 dealer who refused to negotiate on a price unless I was ready to make a deposit then and there; I refused to guarantee any payment until I saw the deal.

One manager even refused to come and talk to me ( according to the salesman) unless I was ready to buy then and there. Was very rude and stated that my 'bosses time is very precious' and he won't negotiate unless you are ready to pay a deposit now.

Of course I walked away after hearing this

Sounds like you’ve received some very poor service, sorry to hear. I ended up with almost a set dialogue which may or may not help, it seemed to work for me.

Went along the lines of asking to speak to someone regarding pricing on a Tiguan, then when speaking to the salesperson I’d explain which model and options I was looking for, and ask if they had anything in stock (I needed a car delivered within a week).
I would tell the salesman I was calling a list of dealers looking for the best price, I’d tell them the best offer I had received so far and asked if they could do any better. “I’m calling all the dealers trying to get the best price I can”. Any who insisted I’d need to put a deposit, I’d decline to do so stating they weren’t the first nor the last dealer on my list, and to just give me their best price. Probably 75% tried to give me their best price and were appreciative that it was an easy price offer and not too much work from their side, the rest pulled similar stunts you’ve experienced.

If you send me a PM I can give you a couple of leads on where I found salesmen to be enthusiastic and willing to work for the sale.. I only collected my car yesterday and all the negotiations were last week, so the dealer list I have is current.

Ps. I had to call back 20% of the dealers on my list as they didn’t get back to me.

Unfortunately been there done that too. When spending that kind of cash, I expect respect and don’t want to be fed a whole lotta BS by a dealer. Might I suggest you read back through this thread and see how many have had positive experiences with brokers, including me. Saved myself a shed load of time also! I will never buy thru a dealer again, except to use them for test drive purposes.

I don’t think that’s the case. All 110TSI, 132TSI and 162 Sportline are on offer.
