Ok answer is in the manual... you have to have the ignition on for the boot to close using the interior button. Case (or boot) closed!

Dead right and if you want it to stop in a particular place. EG if you have a long load in it you just let the button go and it stops. However if you pull it again it tries to continue to go DOWN not up as it would using the buttons at the rearOriginally Posted by tigger73

Yes you can, but as soon as you press either of the paddles, it automagically turns to “M” mode

It reverts back to D mode after about 5 seconds of consistent throttle use- and no more paddle use. Or hold the + paddle for 2 seconds to achieve the same result.

I discovered this the other day! So in my Wolfsburg I can open the boot from inside without the ignition on, but I can't close it until I turn the ignition on, hence the confusion.
Definitely boot closed!

It's a very strange thing you would have though if it was an issue with power then you wouldn't be able to open it with the ignition off. It must be that the sensors to determine if the boot is "stuck" or hit something requires power to be on.I discovered this the other day! So in my Wolfsburg I can open the boot from inside without the ignition on, but I can't close it until I turn the ignition on, hence the confusion.

Anyway put it down to a quirk of VW but it does explain why some people had got it to work while others hadn't.

Correct and its done for safety reasons on the presumption that the 7 seater may/will have kids in it and so you cant close it without being there to check is safe
