I'm running 20x9 ET35 and they sit pretty flush (especially at the fronts) and this is on a standard Tiguan. R-line has slightly flared arches so may be able to accommodate a little more wheel.
In terms of going wider (20x10 ET35) you may need to do some suspension work (run camber) and/or an R-line body kit at minimum to get these to fit inside the guards. In terms of tyre sizes, recommended width for a 10" rim is 265-275. Though in terms of keeping the rolling diameter as close to stock I'd probably look at 285/35R20 especially if you're after the super "fat" look.
However keep in mind this wheel size is definitely pushing the boundaries and you may end up with rubbing/needing to run spacers to get clearance.

I'm guessing you're looking into grabbing some rotiform wheels given those specs? I too would love to know about fitment issues. I've got a 162 r line lowered on ED golf r springs. I'd stick with stretched standard sized tyres, but do want to know if anyone can actually confirm whether they will rub. The missus will not be impressed if her daily rubs hahaha
Hey guys, quick question. Has anyone fitted A5 wheels to the gen 2 Tiguan? I’m looking at some 19x9 ET52. By my calculations, they should have the same poke as a set of 20x8.5 ET41 which are the standard Suzuka’s. The extra 0.5 inch goes on the inside of the the rim so i’m Hoping they won’t rub any suspension components. Any opinions comments appreaciated Chris 👍😁
These A5 wheels should be OK (depending on the tyres you want to run) but I would be looking at getting something with an offset around 35-40 if you had a choice. They will sit 4.6mm further inboard than your stock wheels and 17.4mm closer to your strut.
Stick the specs into an online calculator to see how the fitment looks: Audi A5 19" wheels vs. Suzuka 20"
