    "Gearbox Faulty. Stop vehicle safely"

My less than a month old Tiguan 132 ComfortLine just spouted this at us today.

Gears won't engage. Car has been left to cool down for hours and no difference. Roadside assist towing it to dealership in the morning.

Damn DSG. I hope this is a once only event.

    Shane.

This better not be a new thing.. My Golf R had a tonne of issues, particularly the DSG and Haldex, and my sisters Polo is still a ticking death trap which we need to get looked at for the 100th time..

If this turns out to be a problem again (the DSG) I swear to god it will be the last VW I ever buy I don't care how nice they make/price them.

Sorry to hear of this Shane.

I thought the Tiguan DSG gearboxes were less problematic. This is worrying. I'm subbed.

Every brand new car I have ever purchased has had issues. I now only buy second hand, something that is up to 20-30k old. Usually has all the bugs worked out by then. Plus if you can get over wanting that new car feel you can usually get the current model fully optioned for a great price.

Possibly just a software jg mate knowing VW and new car releases... worst case scenario new gearbox or mechatronics probably wont have one in the country though

Okay good news, sort of. As of this morning the car starts and the gearbox is working with no errors. We have an engine light lit so on the way driving to the dealership now. Will take a look at it today and let us know what needs to be done. It was over 40°C here in Sydney yesterday and I'm hoping this car doesn't just faint when I gets too hot.

Well good to hear that it can drive OK. How many km on your car?

It may have been a tight gearbox and hot weather causing the box to get too hot.

Keep us posted on the outcome. I'm sure there's a few people interested in hearing how you go and what the problem was.

Just under 3500 kms - no towbar so no towing and no heavy use. I'll share more info when I get it. Even the service guys were concerned as some remember the dark days of DSG.

They do hope it may be a glitch and a software update may fix it, otherwise a possible faulty sensor.

    Shane.
