Here is a link Hillbilly VWVortex.com - Skid Plate
I also watched ‘the humble mechanic’ on you tube retrofit this tray to his golf R. He gave it heaps of abuse for testing purposes before fitting and it looks tough as nails. YouTube

Fair enough but why not buy the one I got which is a perfect fit Took about 5 mins on a hoist to fit it.

Cost me $156 The one in reply 14 on there is very similar to mine. You wouldnt really be taking a Tig anywhere you need a steeel bashplate for anyway (if you have any sense)

Thanks, just weighing up the options. I don’t intend to take the Tiguan in the bush or anything silly, just want a better plate for protection against the ‘what if’ scenario.

Your tray looks like a good option, especially considering the price.

Exactly why I bought mine If they send the one with 4 holes as in the pic it will be great. Mine only had two smaller ones and I cut them bigger and did two extra ones on the other side as per these pics LAst one is how it looks on the car from the front I packed out the rear under the crossbeam to allow air to blow through better and oil temp is standard even on last Friday when day was 41.1 where I was

I take mine in the bush and haven't had the need but it isn't an R line as I did not want the 20" wheels specifically for that reason.

Did you need attachment clips or speed nuts or is it fixed by large self tappers, mine is in transit should lob any day.

It comes with screws, washers and 3 bolts for the crossmember Took about 5 mins to fit it once we got the hoist up

I took it off to put the extra holes in it as shown and did it on a pair of ramps Didnt take much longer to replace it

However I used longer bolts in the crossmember and packed it with spacers (2 nuts) on each bolt to allow the air to flow through a bit better

Has about a 15 mm gap across the back of it. Has a little clip to locate it at front centre as does the original but we didnt bother

Let me know if you get the one shown with 4 slots at the front or just two like mine

I repeat, I have not had the need for anything during my bush travels, what is underneath is irrelevant in my case. I doubt anyone with the larger wheels would go where mine has been.

No ones arguing with you are they You are happy with the little one we arent and I have the dreaded 20's as well

It mightn't be irrelevant if something flies up and goes through your plastic sump, but as long as you are happy ............
